Okay, new thread but same shit.  I finally got my rbi arcade to work.  Couple of things.  Actually, a few.

What exactly are all the controls when using a keyboard.  I got throwing and hitting down and moving the players, but how does one go back to a base.

I forgot about arcade rules.  If you're losing after any inning, the game is over?

The sound is kinda fucked up.  If it's my computer how do I fix it.

Last, any recommendations for a controller.  I remember you guys talking about one that's like an old playstation controller.  Are they available at any game store?

I do apologize for being so bad with computers but can't thank everyone enough.

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

Just get a regular PSone controller.  Used at any game store or on ebay.  Then you need an ps to usb adaptor.  Can be had easily on ebay.

Unless you think you need the analog controls on the PS controller, you'd probably be just as well to get a Gravis GamePad Pro.  Same setup as the PS except that the d-pad is a bit different and the front buttons are differentiated by color instead of symbols.  They come in both USB and gameport (if you bought your computer within the last 2 years, I'd go with USB; some newer computers, like the one I just bought, don't have gameports), and they'll run you $10-15 at Best Buy or any department store with a decent electronics section (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.).  I've had a couple of mine for 3 years, and my only complaint is that they're a little picky with diagonals.

As for the other stuff, to check on the controller setup, hit Tab after you load up the ROM, select "Input (this game)", and look for "Player 1 button 1" and "Player 1 button 2".  "button 1" is NES controller button B, and "button 2" is A.  You can change them as needed - you might have to hold down the new button for a second or two for it to register.

I get a little delay running the game immediately after the ball is hit; however, I can run most games (including newer ones, like Street Fighter Alpha 3) smoothly, so I think it's the ROM.  No sound problems or other sluggishness, though, and I don't really know what the issue would be on your end.  As for the arcade rules, you do indeed lose if you're behind at any point in the game.  The top of the first is the most important inning in the game.  2-player plays like regular RBI, however, except that if you're up by 10 at any point (not just the end of the inning), it's over.  Player 1 start pauses the game.

Hopefully that gets you going.  Best of luck.

I used to get the same delay but no longer, so I don't think it is the rom.  It is something about the emulator.  It happens on both FCE and nesticle, but now that I have a mac and use RockNes it does not delay.

We're talking arcade, doveRBI, not NES.  FCEUltra runs smooth as a baby's bottom, at least on my new computer (P4 2.53 GHz, 128 MB graphics card).  I did, however, see that delay once on the NES, trying to play NESticle on my laptop (it also had a delay in Tecmo Super Bowl, between the playcall screen and the actual game screen).  The laptop has a terrible graphics card, which I believe was the problem.
