Just for kicks:

1 - Santana
2 - Spike Owen
3 - Herndon
4 -  Lombardozzi
5 -  Grich

A bit upset that I couldn't get Bobby Thompson on that list...

Maybe I don't know beans, but I leave Grich in the game and put Ruppert in the lead off spot.  I save Wilfong for clutch situations.  I think Grich is half way decent.

There are a couple Grich fans out there, but he just blows for me.  Perhaps I'll leave him in for a few games to turn things around...

Be sure and post your own Bottom 5 list everyone...

Off the top of my head:

1- Spike Owen
2- Wally Backman
3- Herndon (although I once hit 4 dongs with him in one game)
4- Lombardozzi
5- McGee
6- Houston Astros (Even the guys with good stats suck)

1. Spike Owen
2. Rafael Santana
3. Denny Walling
4. Al Pedriq
5. Tony Pena

Hey today I let Wally Backman play 2 games, he went like 7 for 9, no homers, but he hit that right center gap a couple times, pretty solid.

Trammel and Pucket were so bad today, they almost made my list.

Christ, I forgot about Denny Walling!!  Out with Grich:

1 - Santana
2 - Spike Owen
3 - Herndon
4 - Walling
5 - Lombardozzi

Kirby Puckett is the most overrated statistical player in the game.  He just sucks, especially with a runner on first....

1.  pedriq
2.  owen
3.  santana
4.  ford
5.  dick shofield (I hate this guy.  Personally, I can never do anything but ground into double plays, but my dipshit roommate can have like 1 or 2 homers a game with him, so he makes the list just because I can't do shit with him.)

honorable mention:  willie randolph, the leadoff guy for the giants--can't think of his name.

without giving it any thought:
1 Spike Owen
2 Wally Backman
3 Al Pedrique
4 Robby Thompson
5 Tom Herr

Santana doesn't make the list because of his uncanny ability to hit doubles over the 3B's head.  Grich kills the left-center gap, and Ashby does the same to the right-center gap.  Herndon might be alright, but I have never given him an AB.  Lombardozzi has won series MVP before, so he doesn't make the list either.

I can't include Spike Owen on my list (for sentimental reasons - a great '86 BoSock), nor can I deny that he sucks.  He does have a strong 'hit it on the ground to the left side & leg it out' ability...a pseudo RBI Cardinal-like tendency to get on base, if he's used correctly.

Screw it, I'll include him anyway.

1) Pedrique
2) Schroeder
3) Uribe
4) Santana
5) Spike Owen

If starting pitchers are included, put me down for Doyle Alexander of Detroit - he blows.
Long live the 'Volta catch

I agree that Owen's not that bad.  But, I do gotta say that Eric King of Detroit may be the worst player on the entire game - when including pitchers/relievers, starters, pinch-hitters, etc.

eric king should be renamed the court jester... he is straight ass....   his ball doesnt move except in the opposite direction of the bat...  dont use king ever, ever ever!
