I mean, by the time you’ve sold your 1973 Topps baseball card set, they’ve taken a listing fee and a percentage of the final take. But there’s a way to put a hole in their cyber-pocket and add more money to yours: by dodging the selling fee. Simply register your item as you would normally, only set an obscene reserve price that no one could possibly reach. If some idiot does, well, hell, pat yourself lovingly on the behind for making some easy rube rubles. But assuming no one is dumb enough to match your ludicrous reserve price, e-mail the highest bidder once the auction has expired and cut a deal. You’ll avoid the sales fee and make more than you ever thought possible on that Davey Lopes rookie card.
