Gooden got torched. In all the simulation games I ran, I never saw him get torched like no man before! One of those anomaly games for Gooden and it had to happen OPENING NIGHT! The Canadian Shooties will bounce back. Really surprised by the Eazy Listeners - I've never seen them play like that. What happens when the official rom goes out for a slate of games, magic and the unknown happens.

Hell of a job by the EZ Listeners not falling apart after that fourth inning. I was sure it was going to be all Shooty from that point on, but Clemens really stepped it up, and the offense really picked things up.

My first comment was going to be that Assful really managed a lot of runs without much power, then Franco went and gave up that ridiculous 4-homer 7th, which made that commentary seem pretty silly.

Damn good ball game there! McLane's horrible team speed didn't hurt his team this game. I believe Rynlds went 5-6 from the 8-hole. Not bad for a guy with a contact at 34 and power at 804. There's some glitch with him because he seems to get a lot of hits.
So the turning point of the game was when McGee came off the bench to pinch hit for Mitchl in the 8-hole in the 8th inning. His 2-run shot tied things up. Then in the 9th, he hit another 2-run shot for some insurance. Both shots coming with 2 outs.
lol@Canseco in the leadoff spot! He was 3-6 which is an off-day for someone with his kind of power. I was expecting a GDavis and Friends win since his team won more often against Ass Full of Shit in simulation games, but then again, the entire dynamics and team psyche changed with Canseco in the leadoff spot. It looked as though the players for GDavis & Friends weren't happy about the sudden lineup change. Canseco certainly wasn't happy. He went hitless in his first three at-bats and he seemed frowny and he was doing his neck twitches at twice the rate :D GDavis just coached his team to a loss because Ass Full of Shit will be a mediocre team this year! Beef, you gotta do something about Canseco and the lineup.
Oh yeah, the first inning: no hits and no runs. That may never happen again this season.

I was so pissed off when that infield hit broke up the perfect game.
Jesus Christ we got killed with 2 outs and Viola extending the first inning let me know that the game was not going to turn out well.
1 hit for us in 3 innings ... weird. EDavis goes 0-2 - rarely happens in his first two at-bats. In my simulation games, we beat Rock City 8 times out of 10, and never seen this happen. Everything went right for Rock City. They hit 14/23 and we hit 1 for fuckin 10. The Galactic Senate demands an investigation! ;D
Oh well, we're on to next week! The Force will be with us.

Wow, Bell choked big time in the clutch. 1st and 3rd, down 1, and 2 outs in the 9th. Then a weak ass grounder. That was a classic Fantasy RBI pitchers duel. I kept waiting for some kind of big inning by either team, but that never came.

Okay. And I hate to mention this, but the entire ROM you are using is off for all pitchers. You need to fix it asap because the pitching abilities on your ROM don't match the pitching abilities on the editor site.
The Ability Crv L and Crv R is reversed for all pitchers. This changes all the pitchers and their pitches. No wonder why week 1 was so weird.
Technically, you should go back, jack, and do week 1 again, but we'll let this one slide. And please update the ROM - Morris is still on my bench on your public ROM. If it helps, I had two public ROMs when I ran things. One ROM with SP#1 and the other with SP#2. That way, everything was set rather than switch the pitchers every week of games.
Here is a small sample size and trust me, it's for all the pitchers. The top pic is from your ROM and the bottom pic is from Nightwulf's editor site. You can see from this small sample size that Gooden and Orosco don't match from your rom with the editor site. C'MON MAN! You ran week one with unauthentic pitching. I can see how you made that mistake, but it's a significant mistake.

Or clicking on the switch button and send all the players you want to switch over to what ever team slot so that all the players are on one team. It's cumbersome for the first 3-4 teams, then it gets easier - still saves more time than manually doing it. Also, this way, human error is eliminated completely. And I have no idea why Fighton was so scared to cut and past the names, haha!

Yeah, I'm in favor of a redo as well. This ROM you speak of where you said you did some rechecking wasn't made available to the public. You say it exists, but there is no evidence for it. You assert that Gooden's parameters were correct, but it stands to reason that SP Morris' parameters were incorrect if we buy your assertion that Gooden's parameters were indeed correct devoid of evidence. Again, how can you prove that the entire ROM is authentic when the only ROM available to view is grossly incorrect with the pitchers. The only ROM we can view is the only ROM you have available at NightWulf's editor site where the pitching numbers are off.
And there has to be a way for us to check the dates of the files created from the games for watchdog and assurance reasons. I don't understand how you can run a game and for there to be no file available. For instance, lets say there are announced game times for each week, so there has to be some kind of file that matches that game time announced. I did that for my games in the last league to make sure there was no hand of God involved in the games. I taped the file creation and live game as well on youtube to further marshal authenticity.

Great game and the dead ball era continues! Another pitcher's duel that didn't disappoint.
So let's get to what ultimately decided the game. After back-to-back doubles and a run scored trimming the Canucks lead to 11-9 in the bottom of the 9th, and no outs, Heath hit a screamer that was snatched by Herr and then he quickly flipped the ball to Schlfd to get Madlck out for a DP and killing a potential game winning rally. A dejected Boggs flew out to the RF and that was the game ... that sudden!
The same type of double play with no outs happened just an inning before, in the bottom of the 8th. Down 11-8, Raines leads off with a double. Mr. October comes up with the crowd on their feet and the tension thick in the air. R.Jcksn hit a line drive right at Schfld and with Raines taking an aggressive secondary lead, he was doubled up. And just like that, it was 2 outs in the inning and all the momentum for Rock City deflated. Tramml then grounded out.
So two double plays in consecutive innings and two double plays that killed rallies really just deflated the Diplomats since there were no hits after those two double plays. Crazy! Oh yeah, Scott and Gooden combined for an astonishing 7 K's! The drop balls were working for them today!
Schmdt and McGwir showed up huge today! 8-10 and 3HR's from the 3 and 4 hole.
And another outstanding pitching effort by all the pitchers. Key and Scott were absolutely dealing and hitting spot after spot.
So the preseason favorite Canadian Shooties bounced back! Their offense is surprising me thus far with two straight low outputs in the first two games played. 6 jacks by the Shooties to only 1 hr hit by the RC Diplomats.
That game could have gone either way. Nomaaa gonna be livid after he witnesses those two soul crushing double plays!

I know, I've mentioned before how he is overrated because he just doesn't put up the big numbers that his power and contact ratio demands. For a guy with a contact of 23 and a power rating of 945, he just doesn't produce like the Dawsons, Bells, McGwire's, and Baylors and so on with players who are over 920 in power. I was going to mention Canseco, but he's also in that category due to leading off! But fuck, Reggie torched me when the Empire was routed by the Diplomats, but there was no pressure on him. That is, when the pressure if off, Reggie hits. There's some hidden code or ghost in the machine that has reversed Mr. October's clutchness.
It's really fascinating how some players out produce their parameters and other players under produce. Take Speier for instance, WTF does he eat for breakfast? For a guy with 28 contact and 807 at power, he sure does hit like he is 12C and 865P. The dude went 4/5 last game with 5 RBI and a jack. Rarely do guys with similar parameters produce like that.
BTW, FIGHTON, sorry to be a nuisance, but you can you please double check my lineup so that it's right. I posted the new lineup a few posts back and it didn't match the rom. Maybe it's fixed on your rom file, but just want to remind you.

That was indeed the best game of the year.
Reardn hits a triple with 1 out in the 9th with the EZ Listeners down 15-12, then O.Smith and C.Davis hit back-to-back doubles to set the stage for the Hawk's walkoff blast. Worrel got torched there in the 9th and Tempo's bullpen kept his team in the game. Stanly and Reardn combined for 3 hits and only 1R in 2 innings pitched and that was the deciding factor in the game. And man, that's a killer when a pitcher gets a hit at any time in the game - momentum changers!
R.Jcksn continues to disappoint. 2-5 with only a double and 1 RBI. He only managed a sac fly with the bases juiced. And Raines came out huge today. 3 homeruns, 4-6 at the plate, and 5 rbi.
For Tempo's team, Dawson did what he does and he came through in the clutch. O.Smith contributed big time and played to his role perfectly. 1-4 in Tempo's lineup was a pinball machine: 15-23, 4 HR, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored. Sound lineup construction, Tempo!
Sbrhgn and Key pitched outstanding in relief.
The RC Diplomats were outscored 8-3 by EZ for the last 4 innings. It was 12-8 going into the 6th, then the RC sticks got cold and couldn't put the game away or even establish a bigger lead going into the 9th. In the 9th, RC ran into the wrong part of the lineup after that devastating Reardn triple. Worrel just couldn't get a popup from either Reardn or O.Smith or from both to put the game away or at least get another out. Rough day for Worrel.
There were only two double plays and two stat X's. Errors continue to plague the league - 5 this game. I forgot how many runs they led to, but I'll look into it. Honestly, it sucks when the errors hurt you more, but I love the randomness factor of the errors and of course when the errors hurt the opposing team more. The Force will protect the Empire from errors in the big games this year - angel protection.
Two 0-fers this game - Mdlck and Shrdn both went 0-5, ouch.

GDavis couldn't keep up with the Pinkmen - only 3 runs scored after the 3rd inning when they had scored 9 after 3 innings. The Pinkmen scored 12 runs after the 3rd inning.
Ojeda was sharp! He retired the side in the 7th and 8th and counting the last out from the 6th inning, he retired 7 straight! Ojeda was hitting his spots and mixed speeds well. 3 runs in 4 innings of long relief by Ojeda, impressive.
Canseco was 3-5 with 1HR, a single, and a double. I guess he's accepted the leadoff role but the team psyche is clearly not stable and not on the same page with the coaches because of how polarizing Canseco batting leadoff is. :D
And Bell :o 6-6 and his first HR! Hrbek mashed as well with a 4-6 performance and two shots.
And this was significant: Franco and Doran combined to go for 6-10 from the 7 and 8 hole. Both joined in on the HR party with a HR each. In contrast, Brenly and Grich combined to go for 2-8 from the 7 and 8 hole including a DP by Brenly and no extra base hits from those two spots in the order.
Only two errors this game.

Just dandy. So that means he'll breakout huge against us next week since everybody is having a career day against my pitching staff. Our pitchers are having a lot of trouble with location and everybody on the staff is afraid of throwing a drop ball with 2 strikes. I thought the exact same thing. I kept waiting for the EZ Listeners to comeback and win it or make the game closer, but the Pinkmen kept enough distance. I was certain it would go down to the last at-bat due to the length of the video. Errors are game changers in this league since so many happen. I'm going to visualize my defense making no errors before every game ;D I did visualization when I played ball and it really helped with my hitting, so why not!
Tonight's game will be interesting. Reds picked up Thon and changed his lineup, so I have to guess that his team will be more productive. I did not have high expectations after the first inning... hell of a job by nomaaa's boys turning it into a hell of a game.
The clutch error in the 8th helped with that, too, as did the play where the Diplomats benefited from the lack of the infield fly rule.

4-6-5 double play in the bottom of the sixth after a Wilfng error - never seen that before involving a popup in shallow cf ... ever!
I think Rock City had two double plays that just drained their offensive momentum in two different innings, and the DP Heath hit into with Candy on 1st base and no outs in the 8th was a killer. Reggie continues to struggle for Rock City.
Tudor was masterful and RC didn't have a hit until the 3rd inning. Righti did what a closer should do.
After Key's rocky first inning, the Rock City pitching staff was brilliant. Good pitching this game and a below than average scoring game.
The Seymour Chili's error in the 8th with two outs and Rock City down 9-6, paved the way for a pinch hit 3-run HR by Heep. Then Yngbld had a pinch hit double followed by a Raines double to give the Diplomats a 10-9 lead. Trmml then hit a routine grounder that newly acquired Thon booted, but his alertness to quickly throw the ball home with one of the fastest players in the game screaming around third base and headed home, ended a potential bigger inning. In that situation with Raines coming around home, his speed hurt him since a player with speed in the 120's or low 130's would have stayed at third. Rock City had the heart of the order coming up as well.
It was a good game and Thon makes the Chili's a bit better. I think he had a couple hits including a jack.
Tudor pitched a gem but didn't factor into the decision.
Ump missed an easy infield fly call there in the 6th that almost cost the Chilis.
So many double plays that game.
I really need Dwight Evans and dale Murphy to step it up. Happy with the pitching staff.
Murphy had the chance to end the game in the first inning. That would have been awesome. But he blew it.

We were playing pepper all game ... then came the 7th! 13-run rally in the 7th. Team captain and the soul of the team, Donnie Baseball, made sure there would be no 9th inning. It's good thing we got Witt out of there because I liked our chances better with the Ryan Express on the bump. Resilient group of men the Empire has now. And bless those errors working in our favor - The Force was with us! (maybe dial it down to 6 Fighton)
Morris was strong in long relief, and Dayley had a good bounce back outing in short relief. Sutclf pitched good enough and credit to our pitching coach for refocusing our pitching staff.
Did Canseco play btw? ;) Leaked reports revealed that Canseco was embarrassed hitting leadoff at the Imperial Center Stadium, and that affected his play since he just was not in it. The Canseco leadoff fiasco is revived and perhaps worse than my imbecilic trades and voided trades! :D

We went all-in on power, and it's completely failed to deliver.

That is very unfortunate and unusual considering the quality of hitters you have in the 2-3 hole. Jones and J.Rice not having one single HR after 4 games is eye opening. That's the 'Leadoff Canseco Twitch Jinx'! GDavis is also eye opening since it would seem more believable if he had at least 1HR.

With 1 out and runners on second and third base, Grich booted a Knight grounder. One run scored and that left runners on 1st and 3rd. Baylor then hit a 2-run shot, followed by a E.Davis single and a Leonrd double. With runners on second and third, team captain Donnie Baseball ended things with his 4th double of the game.
You and GDavis need to do something called "infield sitch". We ran that in college for hours and it's actually called infield situation. Basically, we covered every possible infield situation imagined with different runners on different bases and different outs. If there was a fuckup during a game, we'd cover that situation first. It sucked for us outfielders because we were the baserunners the entire time. And if we weren't going 100 percent, we got disciplined and chewed out. I mean chewed in a way that would today get the coach fired and even make weaker heads cry or quit.
Anyways, you guys will breakout soon enough since you guys are due. Or ... the Canseco leadoff jinx will continue!

Outstanding pitching by the EZ pitching staff - totally shut down the Chilis who continue to struggle at the plate. 4 ER given up by the EZ pitching staff - hat tip. The difference was the 6th to the 9th inning and the bullpens. It was 4-4 after 5, then EZ outscored the Chili's 10-3 the rest of the way. Double plays and putouts once again haunted the Chili's due to a lack of team speed. Chili Davis and Dawson had huge days, and Gagne piggybacked the Chili's.
Glad I got the win, but I'll ask again:
Please switch out Sheridan and put Guerrero in his place.

Okay, the 4th bench hitter may not hit until a few games later, but I want to make sure we have the best guy to deliver a hit and that may be the difference for a win and better positioning in the standings. The Empire holds independent tryouts every week, so we look at all the guys available on the wire! Also, there'll be a roster move for our game next week. Our scouts have came forward with a roster move suggestion specifically for your team due to a better matchup from what we've seen in the sim games we have run against your team. So you just jinxed yourself buddy! We love our chances against your team!

Doran was the Empire killer today! Holy shit, 2 HR's from him and one off the wall? We were one hit away from a big inning, but it never happened. Nice of Leo to not show up today. Bell broke out apparently. Our pitching was good enough, but the hitting just couldn't put a big inning together. Garner was a huge disappointment today. The hitting was just off today, but the game was competitive. Not happy about the 9th because a big inning there and maybe the game turns out differently. Oh well, The Empire will keep fighting and make the playoffs.

Double plays also really halted potential rallies. Our two out hitting was terrible compared to Nacho's. All the breaks went the other way and yet, the game was still competitive. We just need to put it together sooner or later and go on a damn winning streak. That was such an off day for our offense and every single break went Nacho's way. Not to take anything away from the Pinkmen, but that's not the product that should be out there for the Empire. Again, pleased with the pitching, but very disappointed in our hitting, particularly Leo and Garner. And Baylor ended two innings where we had ducks on the pond. He hit bullets, but just at people and a damn diving catch. No panic though, we'll come around.

Doran is a weapon. He played for me in season VI, and he was very productive. Yeah, he almost had 3 jacks with his 765 power and 18 contact. Clearly on the juice. That's a guy who always over-performs.

Despite a big game from Dawson, the Sleazy Listeners played just well enough to avoid getting mercy ruled. In a game like that, it's almost better to lose by ten after 3 innings so you can avoid overusing your bullpen and make sure nobody gets hurt at this point in the season. Lots of big games coming up.
We saved Sutton for just the right time! Garner thrived in the 7-hole and Burlsn is proving to be an underrated weapon! Sutton shoved the ball up the Easy Listeners asses and he had bulletin board motivation when Tempo said he wasn't afraid of him and mentioned his grey afro - STEAL AWAY!
Our scouting was spot on for the changes we made for this game and thank you Tempo for playing Guerrero instead of Sheridan! Sheridan was killing us in the simulated scouting games we ran and he tipped the odds in the EZ Listeners favor. Guerrero didn't scare us because we knew he would struggle against Sutton and Morris, for what ever reason.
Our pitchers going 3-6 with 2 rbi's was huge, so the Force was with us today. That kind of shit usually is the difference in these games.
Leo is in a bad slump. He'll turn it around. Garner and Burlsn, our two grinders stepping up today!
The Empire is back to stay, make no mistake about it.

Whoa, Sutton only gave up 9 hits, 0 HRs and 3 runs through 4 innings, the amount of innings he is supposed to pitch by default. In Fantasy RBI, that's an outstanding performance and will put any team in position to win. You have lots to learn about Fantasy ball, son! We had a 11-3 lead after four, and if it wasn't for Sutton's gem, we don't maybe win. Then after 5, he only gave up 5 runs. You give up 1 run per inning in this league, you're gonna win a Fantasy Cy Young award!

New lineup seems excited to play together.
HoJo continues to swing the hot stick and McGwire made a big splash in his debut! My projected lineup for Reds had Coleman in the leadoff spot, so I was surprised to see him in the 2-hole and he likes that 2-hole apparently. AFO is in a bad slump right now. What's that, 3 straight mercy rule losses now? All of Reds' new players played well. It'll be interesting to see how nomaaa's lineup reacts and Shooty's lineup as well. Shooty is going to miss McGwire big time I suspect.

Great plate discipline by the Shooties - Ojeda threw a ton of stuff off the plate, and they were absolutely not biting.
Errors killed the Pinkmen! The Pinkmen can't handle success. Nacho's sphincter was so tight going into that game! The Shooties sticks sure did come alive with 2 outs! Big K by Scott when the bases were juiced with Gibson at the plate. Apparently my comment to Shooty yesterday fired up the Shooties and they talked with their sticks!

I really hate the pitching charge algorithm. Left Gooden in far too long and then replaced him with Mike Scott. Then they only allow him to pitch one out before they pull him and went to the bullpen.

HoJo was bound to crash back to earth at some point. Masterful pitching by GDavis & Friends' pitching staff.
It was really impressive. Other than that one big inning by us, it was quite a pitcher's duel. A scoreless game until 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd is really rare in this league (and those third-inning runs were unearned).

- Questionable managerial decision by the Pinkmen bringing in Cox to start the 5th after Ojeda had retired eight in a row. He of course immediately gave up a huge inning.
- I don't think I've ever seen a throwing error exactly like the one in the 7th inning. I am not entire clear why the errant throw went into center field instead of just toward third... maybe some weird location detection between third base and the fielder?

I play the game live at 6x speed and then slow it down for the video. When it was happening live, I thought that maybe I just didn't see things correctly and that it was some sort of trick of the eye. I guess not.

- I'm not keeping stats or updating ROMs with stats during the playoffs. If someone else wants to do that, cool, but I just want to plow through the games.
- Each playoff series will start off as No. 1 SP vs. No. 1 SP regardless of where the last series ended. I don't want a team to be punished because they won in 5 games and had to start their No. 2 against a No. 1 because the other team won in 6.
The Empire has a chance to be spoilers.
For the Diplomats to get in, they have to beat the 1st place team, while the Shooties have to lose to the last-place team. This could be a storybook ending to the regular season for the Diplomats...

I'm thinking somehow Fighton's house at the time of the recording of the game had some type of spirits present where a special set of circumstances allowed for Figthon's computer to receive those messages from a nearby realm that crossed over briefly into our realm in Fighton's house/area. Fighton is right, there is no way any other audio can be present when you run a game on the rom since all other outside audios are closed off and have no way of getting into the rom where the only sounds are from the game.

Does the computer ever pinch hit for the pitcher when the team is ahead? I don't remember seeing that happen.
For whatever reason I was thinking it was basically the same logic as bringing in a relief pitcher, but I guess I could easily be mistaken about that. Logically, you'd think it SHOULD be the same, given that it's pretty stupid to let a guy bat and then immediately take him out of the game anyway.
