Sorry for taking so long to post this, but a new site was emailed to me a few weeks ago.  Off to a good start, like the extra player profile stuff...

Be sure and let Jim know what you think.  Only in the beginning stages but any emails he gets will probably inspire him to keep going!

Jim

Thanks Gantry for putting my page on your forums and links pages.  New updates to tourney page from December 2003!  Check it out!

;D

I love that they penalize a guy for missing a tournament.  Strong move, I salute you H-Bomb!

Gantry

Well done Jim, like the wide variety of beers in your pictures.  Like this in Pete's profile:

"Unfounded, but known for being molested at Burger King for not providing the correct amount of change for my whopper."

Straight pitch must be a midwest thing.  ;)

FYI, I restart work in 3 days, so I can start playing over the LAN with one of my collegues again.

It is a midwest thing.  We have played that way since i was 9 years old.  Its fun both ways but for tourney's sake, we play straight!

A solid way to get decent looking video clips of game action is to use a VCR.  Run the NES through the VCR first and then out to the TV.  You can then record the game directly with no video camera.  Works very well, just don't use EP mode like I did.  That looks like crap...

Not necessarily. I've lived in Decatur, IL for most of my life (center of IL, about 2.5 hours away from Chicago) and this straight-pitch-only stuff is new to me.

H-bomb does not know what he is talking about "Straight pitch is a midwest thing" He made the RBI tournyment a straight pitch because he probably could not handle the curve.  Personally I prefer the straight pitch tourny over the Curve.  as someone once said -

"If you want a realistic game, play something made in the last year. If you want the most skillful game, play chess. Everyone who still plays RBI does it to have fun, because it's the most enjoyable two player game ever made." -  Gantry

Finally checked out the site and I'm glad to see RBI we're not the only RBI freaks.  I love the infield fly rule, since my little brother used to pull that bush league bullshit all the time when we were kids.

That's a pretty awesome site.  Chicago is loaded with RBI players.  Savage.

Infield fly?
I just can't agree with that.
You're going down, chainsaw.

fknmclane

I thought it was an infield fly rule at first but upon reading it I agreed with it.  Then again, I may be extremely confused on the issue because they don't do a great job of explaining it.

My understanding was that if a player purposely drops a infield fly ball to double up the runners, that cheating bastard is penalized.  That's my understanding but I could be totally wrong.

I just think that's part of the game--if you get doubled up, so be it.

Let them Play!

dvldog

I like the attempt to modernize the game - pretty original, but I still like trying to double guys up on infield flies.

doveRBI

The true punishment is a swift kick to the balls followed by a lugee in the face.  Sort of reverse creamy pirate.

vgp100

Kick or knee--whatever works.

Gantry

We play an honor system infield fly I guess.  If you can purposely drop it, you could double up everytime there more than one runner on.  That's ass...

The Captain

What does everyone think about a limit to how many foul balls you can hit per inning or batter??  That question came about even though the foul balls were not hit on purpouse just hit foul due to the batting style.  I personally disagree with limiting how many foul balls you can hit but some people are pulling for that!

dvldog

Consistently hitting a foul ball, IMO, takes some skill - you have two strikes, and you have to make contact...

I guess it would be easier in straight pitch, but it's a helluva feat for curve.
