Please note: if you are reading this thread for the first time, there is an update on page 50 of this thread in regard to the 2007 tourney!!!!)

EDIT:  As you probably already know, the official site is now complete: http://ohio.rbicentral.com

Okay, a lot of you had a lot of fun at Beales' COTUT (the Chicago national RBI tourney).

So the winner of the COTUT and I were thinking of hosting a tournament similar to the COTUT this summer.

Most of the COTUT rules will be the same (probably some slight variations).  Here are some of the highlights:

* variable entry fee
* Curve--anything goes
* Two day tourney (over a weekend)
* minimum 16 entrants
* Top 4 pay out

Who all would seriously consider coming to Columbus, OH for a tourney?  Columbus is a major hub for Southwest--so they very often have killer deals to Columbus.

If you missed the COTUT, you missed an awesome event.  Here's the link to the COTUT (remember, this tourney will be similar):

Also...maybe the Chi people interested could take a roadtrip together?  If not, Cols/Chi flights are dirt cheap...

I'll be there for sure and I would probably bring a few others from Chicago to make it an RBI roadtrip.  Foster, the Texas guys, and Tennesse guys would most likely join your tournament as well.  I would think you'd get a pretty good showing thanks to the Columbus location.

Keep us all updated with any details that become available.

Why aren't any of you candy-ass cake-eaters responding to this???

From what I see this morning, round trip to Columbus on Southwest is about $500. That's a little too steep for me, but if I can get a special rate between now and then I'd likely be in.

Depending on when it is, and if my wife lets me go, I would be interested, but could make no guarantees at this point.

WOW.  That is steep.  There will be some major specials between now and summer for sure.  What airport(s) can you fly out of?  I'll monitor it for you...

It would be very hard for me to miss this tourney.  I got family in the area and don't live too far.  I hate flying so I'd likely drive (though I flew to Columbus over the summer, the flight is incredibly short).  A drunken IL contingent would be neat, though arranging a consistent time/date for all to depart and come back would be tough....

Yeah, it's like a 40 minute flight...and you can sometimes find deals for $75 round trip on www.iflyswa.com

Here are the current Columbus, OH deals (they change 'em up often enough):

Columbus, OH
$34 one-way, to/from Chicago Midway, IL
$99 one-way, to/from Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, FL
$94 one-way, to/from San Diego, CA

Actually, I'll probably be moving to the Bay Area by this summer. Oakland or San Francisco for flights.

Has anyone ever thought of hosting a tournament in Vegas? Rooms are fairly cheap (especially off the strip), flights are cheap and plentiful, and there's plenty of non-RBI related activities...

If I went it would be via car, I try to avoid flying when possible.

Any chance you could play?  Lotta time between now in then to get into playing shape...

I'd most likely be playing, but we'd have to see.  $100 is a lot of change to give away when you know you are going to lose...

At the risk of sounding arrogant, I'm willing to play online with you whenever you want and teach you what I know...

Don't fall for it, Gantry! It's a trap designed to get you to fall for his evil, voodoo magic with the baseball. RUN AWAY FROM THE DARK SIDE!!!

Also Gantry if you want some time, we could meet up and play some, I could show you some of the "tricks" to curve, of course, you'd be better off learning from JoeD.

I'd love to participate in the cousin tournament but can't for three reasons:

1) I have no fucking money
2) I suck balls at curve pitch
3) my wife would probably cut off my nuts

Vegas is a good idea but I think there are probably too many extracurricular activities.

COTUT - everytime I see that acronymn I can only think of oral sex.  not sure why.

SmokedUBad13

Unfortunately, alot of quality players either stopped visiting the forum or never even found it to begin with.  I'm going to Texas this weekend (for RBI and UT football), Kentucky the following weekend (for the girlfriend, a little recruiting isn't out of question either), and Tennessee the weekend after (for RBI and UT football).  I'll be sure to plug the tournament to those guys.  Nothing works better than direct marketing, I won't shut up about it.

I'll work on it, seriously, I will. I'd love to come out for a tournament one of these days.  The finances are the main issue.  I wouldn't care if I got my ass kicked in curve.
