Tony Pena.....That's all I can say.  It's too painful to talk about.  Let FknMclane tell the story.

Tony F'n Pena

I think every time I have Pena up against Chubbs is his worst RBI moment.  He starts sweating profusely and mumbling to himself.  His asshole probably tightens up for all I know.

Anyway, we were playing a 5 game series, me St Louis, him NL.  I took him to game 5 and Pena was up in the bottom of the ninth with the game on the line.  Homer, game over.  Boo ya!

I love Tony Pena.  He's always been clutch for me.  The only problem is that he never hits any bombs for me, just a lot of WTP.  He's always good for that double that you think is a homerun but looks like it bounces out of the first row.

Baines may have hit a homer with Baines, yelled Baines and immediately changed into a Baines jersey.

I agree with Gantry's take on the 8 spot when playing with StL:

"This position is strictly a matter of taste. Many keep Tony Pena is because of his pseudo-power, but I feel he is too slow."
Time for Lindy...

I agree with Gantry too on this one. Although TP does have occasional power, he clogs up the basepaths when the top of the St. Louis order gets up. Hard to utilize the speed of Vince and Ozzie with lard ass Pena chilling on base. Lindy is a better call in the 8 spot.

It's not as if Lindeman is fast

I personally like to get Lindy in at #3 for Herr.  I leave Tony in to swing away because like Ultimate7 said, it's not like Lindeman has blazing speed either.

Personally, every time I try to use too much strategy with StL and play small ball it comes back to bite me in the ass.  My philosophy is that regardless of who they have on their team, after all it's still RBI Baseball and you're better off swinging for the fences.

Lindy goes in the seven hole.  No questions asked.  Tony Pena will forever be my 8 hitter after dismantling Chubbs in our classic series.
But I've always been that way.

Lindman also has mass power.  Dude hit's the shit out of the ball.

7 spot for me too.
Even though I wouldn't be the Cardinals, cuz Tony Pena is the devil

I view Herr as a quality 3 spot...in a weak lineup, he's actually one of the brighter spots. IMO

Tommy Herr was my favorite player as a kid (the actual player, not just in RBI). Loved him, no idea why. I can *never* take him out of the lineup. :)

Honestly, I always liked Herr and I'd love to leave him in but it seems like he pops up too much.  Actually, not just him but the StL team in general.  I'd love to just turn them all loose on the basepaths but it seems like every time I try to do it they hit the damn ball in the air.   I used to let Herr and Ford each get a couple AB's to decide who pissed me off the most before bringing in Lindeman but as I've become a bigger Lindeman fan, I like to get him in as soon as possible.

I had to bring this thread back because I have to vent about my worst night of RBI ever last night.  This shit always seems to happen after I go on a tear like I've had recently.  I went fucking 4-6 last night which shouldn't be the end of the world but pisses me off because I just don't lose at RBI to certain people.

It started off innocently enough when I dropped a 15-5 on Payton7 with SF vs. AM and then followed up with an 18-8 over NY with AM.  Then he beat me in a 16-15 heartbreaker with BO over DT.  It ends on a double play with Gibson lining out to the 1B standing on the bag to double off Trammell.

I didn't think anything of it at the time but this is where the ass pounding begins.  Next up I lose to spike_owen#1 by 1 run in the CA-MN rivalry.  Like a dumbass, I finally convince him he needs Jones in the lineup and he hits 4 bombs.  About an hour later we play a rematch and I quit for the first time ever down 10-5 in the 4th.  I'm not one to quit but regardless of the score, it was a matter of principle.  At that point Gaetti, Kirby, Fat Hrbek, and Brunansky were hitless while I'm getting destroyed by Schoefield, Grich and Boone.  I just put the controller down and walked out and went to the gym without saying a word.

Then I come back later only to lose 4 of 6 in the other rivalry with NY vs. AM.  Not that it should be that big a deal losing to AM but I usually own them with NY.

Think of this as group therapy. We're not here to judge, just to help you feel better about yourself.
Let's concentrate on the good points. What did you do well last night?

Gantry

All, the old leaving the game in the middle.  I've done it myself a couple times, disgraceful as it is.  Though the couple times I did I was drunk.  Was this a sober walkoff?

fknmclane

Chubbs has gotten pretty good at the storm-off.  It usually only happens when we're completely hammered.  I've perfected the "I choose not to play" routine after a series of agonizing defeats.

I can never do that, especially when drunk.  I will not walk away from the game if I just lost badly...

Nah... it happened so long ago I don't even remember who it was... it was a sad day though.  I had to Bases Loaded for a little bit.
