It would definitely be hard to pass up a big tourney that close to home.  I'd definitely have to get in some curve action first but it'd probably be worth it regardless just to meet and hang out with everybody.

Baines may have hit a homer with Baines, yelled Baines and immediately changed into a Baines jersey.

You know who's the best? Baines...

Gantry

Bump, make this tourney happen JoeD...

Mike D.

It might be in the cards for MikeD.  Let me see how I divvy up sales territories for 2005, and I might be able to expense some hotels for peeps.  Should know after November.

Thanks for the bump.  I believe half the battle is keeping this thread high enough for people to continually have to read it.

MikeD...it's now about "after November."  What do ya think?

I am tentatively planning on going. Again, finding airfare for less than $500, and a flight that doesn't involve a six-hour layover in Salt Lake City, is key.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

I was looking and I'm an idiot but I couldn't find an exact date for the tourney.

Here's the deal:  I finally graduate from ASU in May.  I'm banking on receiving mucho deneiro from my relatives.  What I'm hoping to do is quit the Depot and take a few weeks to make it back to Ohio and upstate New York to visit with family.

My family in Ohio lives in Cincy.  I'd probably drive from Cincy to Rochester and what a coincidence, Columbus is on the way.

JoeD, I'll keep you posted.  I'm probably just talking out my ass, but this is a definite possibility.

www.iflyswa.com currently has an Internet fare of $149 each way from LA to Columbus.

I think we can find better, even.

The problem is that I'll likely be in the Bay Area (Oakland, probably) by this summer. But, I think I can find something that's not too ridicuously priced.

Is a date set yet? This should be a poll.

That specific date isn't set yet...but that's what we're shooting for.  We just want to make sure people don't have a major conflict with it before we set it in stone.

I have flown from Cols to Bay area for under $200 more than one time, so that's good news...

I'm gonna be unlikely, though depending on when it actually happens there may be a chance, I may have to play it by ear.

I live just west of the Ohio border in Indiana, and am in education, so I'd be potentially up for it.  Depends on what weekend you're talking about, I suppose

JoeDirt

ED fan...do you live near t and his crew, or is it more coincidental?

I live very near to Fort Wayne, Indiana.  I don't know how close that is to where you're talking about.  I live about 20 miles west of the Ohio border, though

Sorry fknmcfuck...didn't see this.

The date is now set at the weekend of June 25.  Games will start that Sat morning (10 or so) and commence throughout the day.  Sunday's games will start at 10 am also.

Here's some new info for y'all to consider:

-- June 25 weekend

-- Hotel 10 mins from Columbus (airport code CMH) is $59/night...I suggest sharing rooms to get it even cheaper.

-- I will pick up all flying out of towners and take them back to airport as to spare taxi expenses

-- Anybody willing to allow their hotel room to be used as one of the tournament rooms where games are played will be monetarily compensated (this worked out great in Chi COTUT)

-- Entry fee will be per player choice of either: $50, $75, or $100.  Top 4 finishers will win money:

1st place--50% of pot
2nd place--25% of pot
3rd place--15% of pot
4th place--10% of pot

If you elected for your fee to be  $100, you will get the 100% of the % you earned.  If you elected for your fee to be $75, you will get 75% of the & you earned...and obviously, if you elected $50, you will get 50% of the % payout...

So for example, if the total of the 16 entry fees is $1200 and the winner elected to pay $75 entry fee, then he would win:

1200 * 50% = $600 * 75% =  $450.

And so on, and so fourth.

Money that is left over will be first used to pay the hotel room use feee(s) and what is left from that will be equally divided among the 16 players.

Actual tournament rules will be very similar to the rules of the COTUT: http://www.rbibaseballcotut.com/rules.html

Please PIM me if you have any questions.

We currently have 14 players who are either in for sure or very likely in for sure...so please don't wait until the last second.

Once tournament website is up, players will be required to send their entry fee as to secure their spot in the tourney.

Can't wait!
