There are just too many great players in this list:  Spilman, Jones, Burks, Armas, Sheridan, Wilfong.  I can almost make an entire team.  This has the be the best thread yet as there are more than 3 guys to choose from.  Plus aren't there 4 bench guys on a given team, so shouldn't we vote for 4 players?

#1-  Sheridan.  Too dominating.  I was thinking about Spilman as the best, but his speed drags him to #2.

#2- Spilman.  IMOP, the best kept secret in all of RBI.  God this guy is good.

#3- Jones-  He goes ahead of Armas and Burks because he is a lefty.  Plus he is much more consistant.

#4- Armas-  Awesome power.  Too many double plays.

I know you asked for 3 guys but I put 4 there, just in case you expand to 4.

Vit is right.  You could make a team out of this list that could compete with Detroit, Cali, Boston or even the All-Stars.

I picked Jones for obvious reasons.  He's a fucking legend.  All kinds of power, left-handed.  A pinch-hitting version of Reggie Jackson in my humble opinion.

My next two picks are kind of strange.  They're more sentimental I guess.  I know they're not as good in most eyes but they're my favorites.

Lopes is the second fastest guy in the game and if Houston didn't have him, they would almost make me suicidal after getting stuck with them.

If you didn't all notice, I love St. Louis and Lindman is one of the reasons.  I think he's as good as Big Jack Clark.  I really do.

Burks, Hendrick and Armas.  All three have power to burn.  I actually see Ellis as the best lead-off option in the game.

I agree.  This is probably the toughest poll yet.  Definitely, Sheridan and Jones for me.  Picking my third bench player is a toss up between Armas and Burks.  But since Burks won me the RBI2K3 tourney in the 10th inning, I have to give him props.

There's different kinds of pinch hitters, too. Ones that give you one at bat and one only. Then there's the one's who are essentially starters. Madlock should not be playing a full game. Sheridan should. Bergman can play full games (however if he hits a homerun in a game, he should never have another at-bat, he won't hit another)

I'm going with Ruppert, Armas, and Sheridan.

I am a fan of Bergman. Give him a few chances to play full games. You will be surprised. He must be used with the Tettleton stance. That is a must!

I disagree with you, vgp...do you play straightball?

I play curve and regularly use Madlock in the line up (esp against rightie pitchers) and he's a stud.  I know this will be very unpopular, but against an all rightie staff, I sub Madlock in for Nokes often.

Acutally, I play only strikes. You can throw curves, but they must be strikes.
I don't have a problem with subbing for Nokes, though. He gets into shitty streaks. I do have a problem with Mad Dog. On paper his numbers look great--he just doesn't produce like the others on the bench. His first at-bat gives him some pop, though. That's why I like him for pitcher subs and late game at-bats. I used to sub him for Herndon every time. Then I realized the error in my ways.

I'm going by my rankings, though I'm not sold on #3:

1 - Rupperto
2 - Spilman
3 - Lindeman

If I had to play and my life depended on it, I'd probably use Sheridan.  But he and Lindeman are a close, so I'm going with Des Plaines...

Armas, Burks, Heep

Armas is probably the top non-AllStar power threat, in my games.  And Burks has a sick combo of speed, power, and average.  Heep is just clutch for me.  The opposing team is in a heep of trouble when he subs in for Backman.  
Madlock and Hendrick just missed the cut.

It's very tough leaving Burks off this list.  He's almost the perfect combination of all that a RBI player should be.  But he's a righty and plays for Boston.  And he's not my favorite.

Absolutely not, some yutz made that comments on a NES cheats page and all the similar pages just copied it over.  There's nothing to it...

Must say I'm shocked to see aldrete on the list.  I personally am a Spilman fan myself, but to each their own...

Can't go against Burks, Armas and Jones.  I would have liked to go with somebody more obscure but you can't knock the consistency of these guys.

Some of the more underrated guys I like off the bench are Hendrick, Bush and Timmy-two-step but they're really no comparison with the top 3.
