Nice work Hath, this should maybe be a sticky, I'll see if I can think of any more that should be included.

EDIT:  PH +64 bonus

it probably belongs in a 'Discovering the Dee-Nee Genome' thread

hey Sarc, you might find this thread interesting - a lot of links in the first post to other threads where RBI has been disected on the programming level

Thanks Hath, this is a sweet thread.  I think it should be sticky in the RBI section...

anyone ever notice that if you drop a deuce on someones windshield in sub-freezing temperatures, its pretty damn hard to get off once it freezes.

i prefered the other thread(RBI Genome related) where goreds or briznok had a long diatribe about us digging and digging into the rom data and such and eventually discovering something horrific about RBI that would ruin all our lives.

I would like to second ultimate's earlier call for a sticky on this thread.  I'd also like to thank tecmoturd for stimulating some additional nerdy RBI discussion.

This is very helpful Hath. Thanks for updating this stuff. Now I'll have some quality reading ahead of me this weekend.

So we still don't know what determines the trajectory of the ball?
It may or may not use the lookup values 1-6 for being off center.  However, at this point we have no idea if a 03 is any different than a 06.

Some theories (yet to be tested) are that they may be used to skew the probability of trajectory.  Or maybe they are used to determine the hook/slice of the ball?

I've always assumed that trajectory was determined solely by the ball's position relative to the bat's position "vertically" (front or back of the batter's box), although I don't think anyone has gone into the calculations (for example, to see if you get any more power pulling the ball).  It would be interesting to know whether horizontal position affected hook or slice - I think of the bad slices to the opposite field coming off the end of the bat, but I don't really know that.
