They said that the Hall of Fame did some recent research and found his actual birthdate to be 1960.

This is true despite Kirby not being from Central America.  News needs to be changed from 44 to 45.

*** for immediate release ***

the defending world champion oc of the fantasy league are saddened by the loss of our former player and world champion kirby puckett.  as a leadoff man for the oc, kirby sparked many rallies and stoked a powerful offense on the way to our title last year.  he was a joy to have in the clubhouse and an inspiration on the field.

we look past the allegations of his off the field behavior and honor mr. puckett for his performance not only in the metrodome and on many major league baseball fields around the country, but also at tengen field where he will live forever.

good bye kirby, you'll be missed.

The OC GM is now available for questions on this subject. They may be different than that  of ownership

Will he be sitting for the next game?

If you sit Kirby, then the terrorists win.

I find this shocking, I don't really know what to say.  He was one of my favorite players growing up, and one of the most well known and loved,  I'm going to miss him greatly.

I really wish someone would take down that "Next RBI'er to die" topic.  I find it totally inappropriate.  I'm not saying it had anything to do with Kirby's passing, but I'm probably the most superstitious human being on Earth, and it just kinda bugged me.

Heh,  you won't see me post anything there.

eh, lets celebreate life and see who can predict the rbi'er who will live the longest (age wise).

since most of the youngest rbi'ers are at least 10-15 years older than the oldest members here, im sure some of us will be around long enuf to see it thru.

As current owner, manager and GM of The Creamy Pirates, current Fantasy RBI team of Kirby Puckett, we are saddened by the loss of one of baseball's most beloved on-the-field figures. However, we owe it to our current fans and the rest of our team to continue to play Zombie Kirby Puckett the remainder of the season. Of course, this could change if his numbers comtinue to suck, or if he begins losing any body parts after rigor mortus sets in.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

I will protest the starting of a zombie Kirby...or any zombies for that matter.

Of course, Zombie Kirby will be forced to wear a John Olerud-style batting helmet in the field to avoid any potentially deadly "head shots".

Shouldn't all the other players be wearing the helmets, ya know, protecting their brains?

Just thought I'd stop in and pay my respects.

I just whomped Dt with Mn.  Kirby was 2-4 with 2 2B, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored.  He even got a gift from the RBI gods his last time up - with Gaetti and Gladden at second and third, Kirby hit a foul popup off third base, but Brookens dropped it.  Kirby then grounded to Brookens, but Brookens threw home to stop Gladden from advancing, allowing Kirby to reach.  He later scored on a Brunansky double.
