Sorry Yankee fans, this is what you get for rooting for a traitor in the first place.

sucka free

Gammons wrote a great article about the teams who had great upgrades to their teams.  Houston was one of them....now they can add clemens to that list.  Not a bad offseason, clemens and pettiete

This is not good news for us Cubs fans, I still have my fingers crossed that the Cubs will get Pudge and maybe Maddux

The Raiders are a successful organization

Dee-Nee!  Another RBI'er stays alive...  I guess I'm a Cubs fan, but RBI is much more important.  So I say Dee-Nee

I am officially fucking tired of people retiring and then unretiring.  The only thing that would make me happy about this is if the 'stros adopted the Mike Scott throwback as their personal jersey.

Yankees fans are way too posessive of Clemens... Like he's really gonna retire in NY?

He's chasing milestones and wants to retire with a Texan team.

Don't be surprised if he goes back on what he said about wearing a Yankees hat in the Hall.

Shit, it wouldn't surprise me if he went in with a Blue Jays hat.  The guy has no loyalty; just to himself.  And really, it doesn't matter all that much.

well, that was the story he was sellin' a few months back, anyway.

...but i AM glad the rbi legend continues...clemens is the only rbi left that has a reasonable chance to make the all star team.

i heard the 'stros are moving the fences back for him...is this true?

Gantry

Ellis Burks was playing at a high level, though I think he got pretty banged up this year.  One more all-star appearance for Santiago, I'm calling it now!

I should buy a team and sign all RBI'ers and family members of RBI'ers.  We'd never lose, too many dingers...

He mentioned the fences in an ESPN interview today... It wouldn't surprise me.

I appreciate the effort Roger Clemens put in for the New York Yankees.  I love the Yanks and he pitched well for the team.  But what he's doing is an absolute joke.  He's only further solidifying his reputation as a selfish bastard.  I doubt he'll retire as a Yankee.  I hope he fails miserably and I can't wait to see what Bill Simmons, the Sports Guy has to say about this whole situation.

I hate athlete who "retire" and then come back.  They all suck.

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

the dude either has some high float or a mess between the cheeks.

Gantry

The whole pseudo-retirement is really getting annoying.  They should have to sign something that would involve 1000 hours of community service when they come back...

dvldog

He needed like 40 strikeouts to get to number 2 on the all-time list... His ass never intended to retire.

What the Rocket is doing is not too different than what Nolan Ryan did at the end of his career.  He signed with the Rangers and had stipulations like, he didn't have to travel on the road.  However, I do agree that it was stupid for Clemens to claim his "retirement," only to sign on with the Astros.  Why bother with the sentiment if you don't mean it?

The guy has never showed any loyalty whatsoever to any team team he has ever played for. The fact that he played Steinweiner for a fool is fucking hilarious.

Hate to say it, but the Yanks are better off with Vasquez/Brown than Pettitte/Clemens.  I'll still miss getting to go to the stadium to see the rocket.

dvldog

GDavis, once I read that last post I remembered my opinion of Pettite and Clemens... over-rated.

Maybe I just haven't seen Pettite pitch that much, but I have not been impressed by him.  I'm not sure how the Houston defense and run production stacks up to New York's, but Pettite's stats are about to have the bottom fall out of them.

We will see what's left in Clemens' tank this year.  Granted the guy has a good fitness program and still has some heat, but I don't have much faith in him.

Clemens and Pettite have been brought to Houston to improve the team, whereas Vazquez and Brown are more likely to have their stats improved by the Yankee team.  Of course, they were signed in an attempt to improve the Yankee rotation, but I think they will improve and the Yankees will continue to play at a high standard--hopefully not as high as the BoSox though.

GDavis

Pettitte is often considered over-rated by people that do fantasy baseball because of his high WHIP (walks+hits per innings pitched).  But a high WHIP doesn't hurt him so bad because of his great pick off move and ability to get double play grounders.

Clemens started to run out of gas at the end of last year.  Unless Houston lightens his workload he won't make it through the season as a top pitcher.

Also, Gantry...WATN needs a Clemens update since he's an active player now.

Gantry

He's been added, thanks...

Come to think of it, did we lose any RBI'ers this year?  Some may not make the team but I don't remember anyone retiring...

BeefMaster

The short fences at Minute Maid Park aren't going to do those guys any favors, either - I'd be surprised if either of them can keep their ERAs under 4, and 4.5 or higher wouldn't shock me.
