I'm with EDavis on this one.  Madlock is clearly better than PS.  Clearly.

Everything you say is gibberish + Notre Dame has the early lead + you like Pat Sheridan.  You lose on all counts

EDF's incessant harping on Sheridan is going to be sorely missed...

Love means never having to say "I'm sorry I shot your dog through the neck with my heart-tipped arrow."

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Darky

Madlock is a beast.

Pat Sheridan should only be used in ph situations.

Bill Madlock can get streaky with consistent home run power. he has good speed, and can play small ball.
I usually replaced Herndon with Madlock. Anybody have success with Herndon?

I personally like to compare Madlock to David Ortiz.  The man hits bombs, and he comes up big in big spots.  I have had many a fun time tauting friends as Madlock unloads in the ninth inning of a close game.

for fantasy rbi, sheridan is one of the top 5 leadoff hitters.
(that's according to my statistical breakdown of who should hit where in a batting order depending on their attributes in the game)

i bet he'll perform at #1 or 2 in the league this year.

TBG please explain how your breakdown works.  I'm interested.  Lineup order is something that I always wonder about...how to be most effective with each hitter and their spot.

as i just referenced in another post about fantasy leagues, i can't give away our team secrets.  obviously in real baseball you want a leadoff hitter to have some speed.  my calculation takes that into account (among other factors) in fantasy rbi.

people in fantasy sometimes put their best hitter or most powerful hitter at the top in order to maximize at bats.  some may say this approach works better.

what type of game are you playing where you need to consider who to hit leadoff?

None really, I just wonder about real life teams and if I were manager who would I hit leadoff, etc.  I do play Ken Griffey Jr. Slugfest for Nintendo 64 where I fiddle with lineups, but lately RBI has been winning out over Slugfest.  Slugfest is a good game, but doesn't have the appeal of RBI to me.

in REAL LIFE i'd basically go with a guy who has the best balance of obp and speed, he also has to put the ball in play.  no strikeouts.  you can sometimes judge that with triples and stolen bases.  if you have a guy with those qualities but more homeruns, i'd bat him 3rd.  that's my advice for a real baseball game.

I spent the night playing RBI on my laptop and watching Red Dawn.  I had a bad game with Matt Nokes, so for the last 5 games of the season, I let Pat Sheridan "start" for Nokes.  He STUNK!!!! He had two hits the whole time, and those were little dribblers at that.  PS is back to the bench for me.  Maybe I'll give Bergman a try.

I suspect that Sheridan has communist ties and was distracted by the goings on in Red Dawn

I don't understand why people are so down on Nokes.

Start Nokes, use Maddog for Hearndon, and maybe Heath for Whitaker*

* I haven't done this yet, but now that I think about it... that's GOLD

fknmclane

Not GOLD.  Because you would then have 5 righties in a row.  Gotta switch it up.
