i just hit a foul ball that one-hopped the wall in foul territory.

it was moore off of bedrosian.  man, it looked close.  he really got ahold of it.  alas, i still don't think a pitcher homerun is possible.

There has got to be a mathematical formula to see what the percentage is for a guy to hit a homerun.  If I knew more about gaming code I would figure it out for everyone and finally put this myth to rest.

I've played so many games of RBI and the closest a pitcher has ever gotten was warning track power.  I do agree that Nolan Ryan has the most pop in his bat.

You guys can shoot me for adding this one to this "NES R.B.I. only site." I've homered in R.B.I. 4 for the Sega Genesis with at least one pitcher (can't remember who as it was about 15 years ago). The ball really flies in that game (those players must have been on steroids in 1992) and the game measures the home run distance. I think it was pretty typical to regularly smack balls 500-600 feet in that game and my homer pitcher went yard at about 380-420 feet as I recall.

Overall, it is a fun two-player game (play curve, not straight pitch) with all the major league parks. Too many "automatic" outs (i.e. pop-ups that hang for days) and you might get bored quickly with the one-player version.

But, boy, that game was juiced.

The "Tettleton" also seems to work for pitchers, I guess it's the only chance you'd have to hit one out, using that technique.

I hit a pretty good one with Gooden one time, to left field, it was caught on the fly I'd say about, an inch or two on the screen away from the LF wall.

Would those "Through the wall" homers count as actual homers for pitchers?  It would be incredibly tough hitting one over the actual wall.

I might mess around with my Game Genie sometime soon, maybe there's a code I can come up with to maybe speed up the game or hit the ball farther.  I already made a code (PUPKOX) where any ball hit keeps rolling THROUGH the wall if untouched by a fielder, but you have to still manually run the bases to get credit for the homer.

I believe both Canseco and Oquendo have pitched in MLB games, so does that count?

I hit an over the fence homer with John Tudor last night.  It was on a black cartridge on regular nintendo.

I assumed he was either joking, or too high/drunk to remember correctly

Whatever.... I was playing and used my drink pitcher to press the button to swing and the pitcher's name is John Tudor.

On the game, it was Tony Pena.
