karate kid 2 was good too...  now three, that was a waste of money.   gotta give it up for outsiders... how many stars came out of that one.  imagine if they tried to put that cast together today with the salaries those guys get.  its too bad ralph turns into a crispy critter though.

Sh!t, I used to know The Karate Kid line by line, trivia fact by trivia fact.  Yeah...I was a geek, but the movie rocked and still does!!  Now every once and again, HBO plays the original -- it's all about Crane Kick, don't you know?

Back to the original topic, until this post came out, I never really paid attention to the sponges, but man...they happen so regularly.  And everytime they happen, I think of this post.  Ok, so this post has nothing news-worthy...I just wanted to get to the Walling Level...

and if you want to add to the effect of the spongebob... let him lay there a bit(especially with a slow runner  i.e. armas) to really piss your oppenent off.

Disrespecting the opponent is key - I had a "Strike a pose" lineout against potsie tonight with Joyner.  The thing was that he had a runner on and Joyner was striking a pose right on the basepath, and his guy didn't tag up.  So he had to run back to first, right into Joyner.  So I sat there in the strike a pose position waiting for Potsie to run into me.  Potsie took the easy way out and ran to second, forcing me to tag first base...

what a poor sport...
and how come potsie never ventures into the forum...
is he the black sheep of your group or what?

Potsie and Sperling are lurkers, but never post.  I'm the same way on other message boards...   But they are hip to the scene, no need to worry...

as of right now... what are your player rankings?

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K

Gantry

#49
Player rankings in terms of the four of us?  We would all have different opinons, but I would say Lips and I are neck-and-neck and Potsie is VERY close behind.  Sperling is definely 4th at this point because he never plays.  Though Sperling has made every championship finals, so he's never out come tourney time...

you guys should give curve style a try in an exhibition tournament... you'd be surprised as to how it raises your player's skill level.  i bet your scores dont go down as much as you think.

Curve style is on the agenda, but it's definitely on the back-burner until after the tourney.  Kind of like in "Seaching  for Bobby Fisher" when the kid plays speed-chess and it messes up his overall game....

One good thing about straight-pitch is consistent parity.  Curves definitely have more skill, but part of the fun with our games is that anyone can win any given game.  No matter how good you are in straight pitch you will lose a certain percentage of your games...

Gwynn3k

#52
this is true... i definately see your point.   as long as you eventually give it a try... cause you cant knock it until you try it.  i think we might have to come up with a straight pitch belt.

Ahhh, the tourney is just less than 40 days away.  It's gonna be craziness at it's max...  I can't wait.  Today wasn't the best of days for me, but like I have said before, I'm feeling confident...very confident these days.  But like any year, anything can happen...and it usually does, so unless I show up for the tourney, nothing matters.

But first thing's first...  Win the NCAA Fantasy Wrestling Championships.  Then, and only then, the tourney will enter the mind.

All I could say now is FRAYER...if he does it, then there's the slightest of possibilities of me winning the first eight weight classes.  Yeah...that's right, Gantry...  It could happen...  But there are like six classes up in the air this year, and who knows what's going to happen.

The Semis are key, and like usual...you will feel the WRATH!!!!!!  Oh yeah, the WRATH of Lipitz...

Gantry, your Bobby Fischer metaphor was one of the best of all time. I am just now getting around to replying to some old posts, so forgive me.  Me and Stu played the straight pitch for a couple of weekends when I was in town, and when we tried to go back to curvy style, it was a complete disaster.  Your natural game really does suffer when changing styles and then trying to go back.  But Stuart is coming up to visit us in West Central Missouri for the next week, so we will get our games back.

west central missouri huh,  what city is that?

anyways, curve style is a way of killing your skill level for it weakens your eye hand coordination and when you go back to curve style you immediately notice the difference.

Although this thread has completely deviated from the original topic (and there ain't nothing wrong with that), I added Spongebob to the glossary tonight:
