Who/How do you sub?  Do you keep Dykstra and Wilson in?  Where's Hojo come in at?

There has been practicaly zero RBI chatter about the actual game itself the last few weeks, other than fantasy RBI, and players actual MLB accomplishments.

Backman and Santana come out always, everyone else stays in.

Lenny, and Mookie will occasionally surprise and hit one out.  Probably due to the fact they get more at bats at the top, and the fact that they are weak and usually see better pitches.  Thier speed at the top is fairly valuable as well.

You'd be nuts to sub out Mook or Nails

Darky

Who get the start? Ojeda or Gooden? I like to go with Ojeda-Orosco-Gooden. Rarely need to use Mcfuck.

I just like using Gooden's hard shit mixed in with some offspeed and knuckles for the last two or three innings.

Oh, it is a sound strategy.

i put in hojo for santana and leave teuful for special circumstances

Sometimes I'll sub Teuful in for Mookie if he's not getting it done in a series.  It's really annoying that Mookie and Dykstra are the exact same, mediocre player.

I have done this a few times. If Backfuck can get some hits, and score a run or two, then money.

But HoJo can get it done with one swing. Backfuck is too small ball with not enough pop for me.

i mean, out of the three ways a player is rated, where does this so called mediocrity present itself?

Power and they're just fast enough to make you think they're really fast but they're not.

nails is the fastest white man in the game, and mook aint no slouch either.  you're trippin ese.  and you dont need a shitload of power before hernandez, carter, and straw.  you need quick runners on base for the power hitters to bring in.

This is very true. Speed does play a huge role for those extra bases in a tight-low scoring game.

What the fuck you thinkin mclane? Small ball is needed to go along with power.

IIRC Nails is a 142 speed, and Mookie is 138.   its a good 1-2 combo to get the party started.

I wonder if theres like a quotient that would help us figger out what speed a runner has to have vs a tiring pitcher throwing X MPH to steal 2nd base consistently.  I do know vs a very tired pitcher guys like Nails can swipe 2nd base.

Depends what runner. For instance, Coleman, Raines, Lopes, and O.Smith can steal on any pitch from 88 and below. For most players like in the 128-134 range for speed, my calculated guess from experience would be in the high 70's to low 80's somewhere.

By the way, I really like Teufel much better than HoJo. Teufel can get hot with some power and solid hits. HoJo just does not get enough hits to make up for his ability to hit some out.

Oh, Backmn is really slow. So he does not make up for anything with his speed.

Basehits, bunts, and average to good speed is very beneficial in a tight-low scoring game.
If the pitcher is on and the power sluggers are not doing there thing, then the ability to adjust and play the game by manufacturing a run has been in my experience, a good way to go. By manufacturing a run, taking the at bats deep in the count, and getting hits wears down the pitcher and may frustrate the player. The direct result of this is very conducive to a mistake pitch down the cock and over the fence.
