My son challenged me to a game of RBI 3 last night.  I give him some advantages - he gets to use an all-star team, and I don't pitch him too aggressively, keeping everything over the plate (he throws Anything Goes style against me).

I took the Royals, for Bonny, and my son had to get ready for bed while we were in a 6-6 tie, after he'd just tied it up on homers from Lance Parrish and Cecil Fielder in the bottom of the 6th.  I had no homers, and I benefited from two unearned runs in the top of the first, when Canseco dropped a two-out fly ball, followed by a two-run double from Danny Tartabull.

I'd forgotten how little power there is in RBI 3 for non-All-Star teams - the Royals have three guys with double-digit homers (Brett, Bo Jackson, and Tartabull, and Tartabull doesn't even start), and looking through the numbers, Bo is the only one with over 800 power.

We finished the game last night.  I scored three in the top of the eighth on a throwing error (SHOW NO MERCY) and a couple doubles, he tied it on a 3-run bomb by Canseco in the bottom of the ninth, I got three in the top of the 11th, capped by a 2-run homer from Bo, and I retired Canseco and McGwire with two runners on base to close it out.  Royals win, 12-9.
