The key to curve RBI and why I'm so awful at it - swing at EVERYTHING and be predictable when you take pitches.

The last time I thought to look at the Ks in the box score was after the 7th, at which point Ben had 14, and that was even though he spent the fourth and part of the fifth basically throwing meatballs with a gassed Fernando.

That's the other key to success at RBI - keeping your pitcher in for 1 batter too long.

Bebop

yup, the one batter too long always gets me too, especially with Saberhagen.  with his curveball i'm striking out like 12 through 5 innings and then he turns into Felix Heredia.

Gantry

That's why even though I'm Mr. Straight Pitch I prefer only one starter - much trickier (and imo more fun) to deal with the bullpen management and throwing while fatigued.

Love it. I found that on FB a few weeks ago and posted same. I wonder what the context was. And I also wonder if this was something Carl Everett was referencing with his anti-dino diatribe.

Congrats Nomaaa.  Dee-Nee's new Sandwich King.

Baines

I played Runs Batted In with TBT in Louisville tonight. I also had several beers and we will fill in details later.

Baines may have hit a homer with Baines, yelled Baines and immediately changed into a Baines jersey.

You know who's the best? Baines...

DEFECTOR HAS BROUGHT BACK REMEMBER SOME GUYS

Bill Schroeder is the only RBIer that I noticed in this edition, although I enjoyed that it was 1991 Topps, a set I remember very well.

Dale Murphy should never have been on the bench. Al Pedrique........Blasphemy

Pretty sure Dale didn't play SS.  But they definately should have found a better starting SS than Al.  Hubie Brooks would have been an obious choice since he was a 1986 and 1987 All-Star SS, a young Barry Larkin would have been a nice pick too.

Also just found out that shockingly Ozzie Smith was the 1987 NL Silver Slugger at SS, his only Silver Slugger win.

Barry Larkin won the next 5 and and 9 of the next 12.

Looking at the 1987 Astros, Alan Ashby led the team in OPS+ and surprisingly Glen Davis was like 6th amoung regulars, though most of the top 7 was between 104-117

Wow... outside the 8 starting position players, the team had a TOTAL of 15 home runs, one of which was hit by Nolan Ryan.

I feel like we shouldn't go a full month without a post in this forum, so I've taken care of it

OK, now I have a real post:

How the hell is Frank Robinson on the bench for the Arcade Reds, I mean the starting OF is George Foster, Ken Griffey Sr., and Vada Pinson
