AFC Divisional Playoffs

78 Steelers 38
76 Raiders 21

Lynn Swann scored two touchdowns in the 4th quarter to put the game away. The Steel Curtain sacked Kenny Stabler 9 times and intercepted two passes as the 78 Steelers won this classic rivalry 38-21.

Chuck Knoll took great satisfaction in beating the Raiders and he again mentioned the criminal element of the Raiders secondary.

The Greatest Show On Turf lived up to it's hype as it outshined the West Coast Offense. Kurt Warner threw 4 touchdown passes and 236 yards as he led the 01 Rams to a 34-14 victory over the 89 49ers.

Marshall Faulk was injured in the 3rd quarter, but still managed  158 yards of total offense.

The game was over when Terrell Davis ran for a 25 yard touchdown with 3:01 left to play.

The 98 Broncos harassed Tom Brady all day. Neil Smith and Bill Romanowski combined for 7 sacks while Steve Atwater and Darrien Gordon each recorded an interception. Antowain Smith and Kevin Faulk were both limited on the ground by a motivated Broncos defense.

Terrell Davis and Shannon Sharpe each scored two touchdowns.

NFC Divisional Playoffs

77 Cowboys 35
01 Buccaneers 21

All week Monte Kiffiin's focus was having his defense prepared to stop Roger Staubach's passing game and scrambling. Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, and John Lynch succeeded. However, they forgot about Tony Dorsett.

Dorsett slashed and dashed for 180 yards against a very well respected Tampa Two. He scored three touchdowns on runs of 25 yards or more each time.

Tom Laundry will now take America's team and his doomsday defense to the NFC championship game where the greatest show on turf awaits.

AFC Championship

78 Steelers 38
98 Broncos 14

The Steel Curtain imposed their will at Mile High Stadium.
Sacking John Elway 8 times and intercepting him twice, the 78 Steelers demonstrated how defense wins championships. LC Greenwood, Joe Greene, Jack Lambert and Jack Ham put on a furious show stuffing Terrell Davis, forcing 3 fumbles and applying constant pressure on John Elway. Mel Blount recorded two interceptions.

On offense, Lynn Swann made two acrobatic catches in the endzone and ended up with 140 yards. John Stallworth was injured in the first quarter, but Rocky Bleir and Randy Grossman picked up the load in his absence.

"Terry Bradshaw played brilliantly" said Chuck Noll. The 78 Steelers will be making their second Superbowl appearance. The lost to the 83 Redskins in Tecmo Superbowl VIII.

In other news, Shannon Sharpe and Bill Romanowski were seen fighting on the sidelines in the second half. It was reported that Romanowski spit on Shannaon Sharpe's face in an act of expression on his effort. Romanowski said that him spitting on Sharpe's face was not racially motivated.

NFC Championship

01 Rams 17
77 Cowboys 13

Kurt Warner found his rhythm in the 4th quarter and threw the game winning touchdown pass to Terry Holt with two minutes remaining.

Without Marshall Faulk in the game due to injury, the Greatest Show On Turf limped all game against the Doomsday defense.

However, Trung Candidate filled in like a hero and helped the Rams convert crucial first downs in the 4th quarter. With an all out blitz by the Doomsday defense on 3rd and 10, Warner hit Terry Holt on the sidelines for a 64 yard touchdown pass that was ultimately the game winner.

Staubauch and the Cowboy's sophisticated offense stalled at midfield with under a minute remaining. Defensive coordinator Lovie Smith's version of the Tampa Two had a dominating effort against America's Team as they harassed Roger the dodger all day and forced him into errant throws. Grant Wistrom and London Fletcher both combined for 6 sacks.

Mike Martz credited Trung on his tough running which was instrumental in keeping the Doomsday defense on their heels.

The Greatest Show On Turf will meet the Steel Curtain in Tecmo Superbowl XI.

This will be the Rams first appearance in the Tecmo Superbowl.

I never noticed that aspect. True, Dunn was a Falcon in 02. I just run the games people. I did not create the rom. Mistakes happen.

The protest is overruled. The 85 Bears were served some serious pw3nage by Dunn. They deserved to lose by allowing some dude under 180 pounds to go off like that on the 46.

In future matches, Dunn will not sniff the field. I'll see to it that happens.

The Tecmo Superbowl will be played Sunday. Happy Holidays.

Tecmo Super Bowl XI

78 Steelers 21
01 Rams 24

Issac Bruce scored the game winning touchdown on a 55 yard touchdown reception to give the 01 Rams a 24-21 lead with 4:13 remaining in the 4th quarter.
After a pair of possessions, The 78 Steelers had one last chance to pull out the win. Starting on their own 12 yard line with under 1:50 left to play, Terry Bradshaw got the Steelers to midfield. A normally sure handed wide open Lynn Swann dropped a perfect pass delivered to him by Terry Bradshaw on 4th down in Rams territory and well within field goal range. The Rams took over on downs and ran out the clock to capture their first ever Tecmo SuperBowl Championship.

Marshal Faulk was once again injured in the first quarter, but the Greatest Show On Turf showcased their balance of offensive arsenal power by being able to overcome the loss of Faulk against the celebrated Steel Curtain.

"'First things first. I have to give praise and glory to my Lord and Savior up above. Thank You, Jesus,' Kurt Warner told the public. With those words, quarterback Kurt Warner, MVP of Tecmo Super Bowl XI, wrapped up an incredible season, and once again, with his family watching from the stands, Kurt will be part of Tecmo Super Bowl history" said Kurt Warner, a deeply religious man.

The 88 Benglas and their no huddle offense overcame a 10 point deficit in the fourth quarter as Boomer Esiason connected with Eddie Brown on two touchdown passes. Boomer hit Brown with 51 seconds on a 28 yard strike.

Up 14-0, the 88 Bengals turned the ball over 4 times which led to 24 Charger points.
With a  24-21 lead with under 3 minutes to play, the Chargers were forced to punt from their own 8 yard line. Sam Wyche and Boomer Esiason took advantage of great field position as they managed to march 63 yards in just over a minute and score the winning touchdown to send Air Coryell home for the playoffs.

85 Bears 20
98 Vikings 28

Randy Moss put the game away with under two minutes to play as he scored on a 72 yard precision strike from Randall Cunningham.

The Bears missed a field goal and settled for a field goal in the second half which proved to be the difference in trying to keep up with the explosive 98 Vikings.

Dungy's two deep defense bent a lot during the game, but managed not to give up a huge play the entire game as Walter Payton was contained. Jim McMahon struggled on key third downs as he was off the target a few times.

Vikings head coach Denny Green was not the least bit surprised over his team's victory over Ditka's Bears. Even offensive coordinator Brian Billick chipped in and confidently stated that he had no doubt that his offense would be able to move the ball effectively against Buddy Ryan's 46 defense.

Out of ten times in RL? I'd say Chicago 9-1. And that's being nice to Vikings fans.

The other dynasty rom that I run with the classic teams, Chicago's defense is the best defense I have ever seen on any Tecmo rom...they arguably could be the best team ever to step on the Tecmo field on any rom. I run that rom next tourney this week.

On this rom, their defense is not as superior as the other dynasty rom. Offense rules on this rom.

AFC

90 Bills 28
91 Oilers 14

Bruce Smith sacked Warren Moon 6 times and pressured him all game as he led the 90 Bills to a 28-14 win that was a lot more lopsided than the score indicates. The Bills jumped out to a 28-7 lead in the fourth quarter.

Thurman Thomas (1 TD) was injured in the second quarter and left the game, but Jim Kelley played effectively and was able to compensate with successful high percentage throws in the  no-huddle "K-Gun" offense.

Don Beebe scored two touchdowns and James Mueller added one with a 12 yard td reception.

In an improbable upset victory, the 91 Lions stunned the Tecmo world and Landry's 77 Cowboys 42-28.

Barry Sanders, Erik Kramer, and Robert Clark played brilliantly in the first half as they helped build a 28-7 halftime lead.
Barry Sanders zipped through the Doomsday defense for 163 yards on 9 carries and scored three TD's.
Erik Kramer had a career day and hooked up with Robert Clark for 158 yards and three touchdown passes.

Wayne Fontes and his 91 Lions earned their first ever playoff victory and another hopeful Tecmo Superbowl eludes Landry's Cowboys.
