58 Colts 25
68 Jets 7

The 58 Colts won with great defense and used different looks to confuse Joe Namath.
Johny Unitas carried the offense and managed the game effectively as the 58 Colts inched a step closer to the Superbowl.

77 Cowboys 0
85 Bears 20

After a quick recovery from a heart attack earlier in the week, Mike Ditka gave an emotional speech before the Cowboys game in which he emphasized playing smash mouth Bears football.

The 85 Bears shut out the explosive Cowboy offense as they played another game of lights out defense. The Cowboys were limited to 2 first downs and 62 yards total offense. The Bears have not given up an offensive touchdown in the playoffs.

Walter Payton came back from an injury and rushed for 123 yards and Matt Suhey added 53 yards against the doomsday defense.

Tom Landry observed that the Bears defense was better than the Steel Curtain and easily the best ever.

Who the hell are the 30? teams in this league, how the hell are there 2 Falcon teams in the NFL dynasty when the Falcons have 1 NFC Championship and they weren't actually a Dynasty level team

Jim Brown only had 4 carries which shocked everybody in the stadium.

The ROM you're using clearly has shit for brains.  He should carry the ball every play.  Every play.

The current playoffs are from the other dynasty rom. Some teams are the same, and others different. The 85 Bears, 89 49ers, 72 Dolphins, 76 Raiders, and 90 Giants are the only teams in both roms. The rom that I am running now, has higher defensive parameters...for instance, the 85 Bears on this rom is much better than the 85 Bears that played in the first two playoff tourney's.

Okay, more action from the conference championships...

AFC Championship

63 Chargers 10
58 Colts 24

With the game tied up at 10 going at halftime, coach Weeb Ewbank demonstrated that he is still one of the best in the business at making halftime adjustments. He changed the defense from a 3-4 and switched over to a 4-3. The change proved to be effective in stopping the Chargers running attack and gettting a good pass rush from his front four and dropping 7 back in coverage. The Colts did not allow a first down in the second half as well as zero points.

Johnny Unitas passed for 2 td passes in the second half with surgical like precision.

NFC Championship

90 Giants 14
85 Bears 28

The Giants had the ball at their own 10 yard line trailing 19-14 in the fourth quarter. Phil Simms was sacked two consecutive times by Dan Hampton. The last sack produced a safety that put the 85 Bears up  21-14 with 2 minutes remaining. On first down from the Bears 45 yard line, Willie Gault showed his world class speed as he hauled in a 40 yard reception that set up Walter Payton's game winning td score.

Walter Payton carried the offense as he rushed for 117 yards on 11 carries.
The Bears defense recorded 7 sacks, two safeties, and an interception in another impressive effort. The Bears limited the Giants to only two sacks as they often went to max protection and 3 step drop backs.

The 85 Bears will now face the 58 Colts in Superbowl III.

Superbowl III

58 Colts 14
85 Bears 21

Jim McMahon's 3 scrambles for 62 yards proved to be the difference in Superbowl III. All three of his scrambles set up the Bears 3 scores.
The Bears defense gave up 17 yards of rushing and 126 yards passing as they contained Johnny Unitas. Both defenses only registered 2 sacks a piece, but there was constant pressure on both McMahon and Unitas.

Walter Payton rushed for 64 yards on 9 carries and added another 63 yards of receiving. The game was toughly played as time ran out on the Colts last drive.

64 Browns 37

Paul Warfield torched the Jets secondary as he turned in 3 td's and 178 yards receiving.
The Jets never really threatened at any point during the game as they turned in a flat effort.

85 Bears 31
79 Rams 0

The Bears defense set an NFL record by smothering Vince Ferragamo for 17 sacks.

The defending champions jumped out to a 17-0 first quarter lead in which the first play from scrimmage was a 65 yard td run by Walter Payton.

The defending champions sent a clear message to the league that they plan on winning back to back superbowls.

76 Raiders 37
77 Broncos 0

A jubilant Al Davis and John Madden were all smiles on the sidelines as the 76 Raiders took the orange and crush out of the Broncos.

The Raiders offense performed like a well oiled machine as they scored on every possession. The Raiders rushed for 214 yards and the Snake Stabler looked as good as ever with all the time in the world to throw the ball behind his massive offensive line.

The 1 time Superbowl champion Raiders recorded their first ever shutout in tecmo playoff history.

89 49ers 7
53 Lions 9

The Lions scored the go ahead touchdown with 1:23 left to play in a tightly contested defensive battle.

Jerrry Rice was double covered all day and Montana had no time to pass against a ferocious Lions defense. The Lions were heavy underdogs coming into the game, but they showed why the game is played on Sundays.

75 Steelers 46
64 Browns 3

It was the most lopsided victory in the history of the Tecmo playoffs. The Steel Curtain imposed their will and Franco Harris had a huge day as the 75 Steelers won in convincing fashion.

90 Giants 19
85 Bears 16

Matt Bahr kicked the game winning field goal in overtime as the 90 Giants defeated the defending Tecmo Bowl champions.

Dave Meggett became the first player ever to rush for over 50 and 100 yards on the 85 Bears. It proved to be the difference in the game as he picked up crucial first downs to sustain drives.

The Giants won the turnover battle 5-3 as it very well determined the outcome of the game.

72 Dolphins 35
76 Raiders 14

The no name defense shut down a very potent Raiders offense as they frustrated Stabler all day. Paul Warfield had a huge day and probably sealed the game as time ran out in the first half by scoring on a 60 yard td pass to give the Dolphins a 21-7 lead going into halftime.

Al Davis did not allow John Madden to shake Don Shula's hand after the game. The reasons are unknown at this time..

73 Vikings 9
53 Lions 6

Alan Page had 6 sacks and two forced fumbles as he led the purple people eaters to their first ever NFC title game.

Field positioning and special teams proved to be the difference in the second half as the Vikings had the advantage in working with a shorter field throughout the second half.

The Lions defense kept the game close as they chased Fran Tarkenton around all day and recorded 8 sacks and causing 4 turnovers which kept the game close.

The 73 Vikings will meet the 90 Giants in the NFC title game.
The Giants are 5 point favorites according to the early line.

72 Steelers 17
72 Dolphins 31

On a summer like day at the Orange Bowl, the Miami offense melted down the Steel Curtain. Bob Griese threw for 3 td's and Paul Warfield scored on two bombs for td's as he continues to make big plays in the Tecmo playoffs.

The no name defense contained Swann and Stallworth and demonstrated tremendous discipline with the zone coverages which was clearly designed to take away the big play capabilities of Terry Bradshaw.

This will be the first appearance of the 72 Dolphins in the Tecmo Superbowl.

NFC Championship

90 Giants 38
73 Vikings 10

Offense wins games, and defense wins championships commented Bill Parcells. The Vikings were shutout in the second half and were unable to keep up with the balanced attack of the Giants. Ottis Anderson powered his way to 101 yards and his forearm punch to break tackles surprised many observers who thought that the purple people eaters would be able to contain the Giants running game.

Stephen Baker the touchdown maker scored 2 td's on the courtesy of two blown coverages off play action passes.

The 90 Giants will now make their second trip to the Tecmo Superbowl where they will face the 72 Dolphins. Their first trip to the Tecmo Superbowl in Tecmo Bowl II, they lost to the 76 Raiders.
