I was watching my son play Halo 3 versus his buddy and it became obvious to me that it was merely Atari Combat but with insanely better graphics.

Really, every deathmath-style game ever is basically an offshoot of Combat.

I hadn't played RBI in ~15 years until I picked up an NES on EBay late last year.

I wore out the CPU for a couple months...can't do it anymore.

Now looking forward to the first Chicago gathering and the June tournament.

Brookens - make sure you play a game on the LCD before you have a gathering.  A lot of newer HDTVs have too much lag for RBI/NES games, I think it's pretty much unplayable on Sperling's DLP.

Maybe it's just a DLP thing?  This is a bummer if this is the case.  Thanks for the heads up though Gantry, I will report on my vs. computer playable on my new tv.

Reds

I think over my career I'm 0-2 vs Gantry.  Though one of those times I was shitcanned.

So theres that.

GoReds - a man among men...

Briznock

Gantry called a Tommy Herr HR in one of those games didn't he?

Reds

Attez did that.

Though I wanna say Gantry and I went to extra innings at Newport KY fest and Danny Gladden hit a homer that beat me.

Is this some musical fusion of death metal and mathcore?

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Most newer LCDs have a 'game mode' that may or may not help.  If it plays weird out of the box, try fiddling with the settings.

That's what she said!

  HIYO!!!

I've tried to get my 4-year-old to play with me, but he hasn't shown much interest -

How well should I expect my 4 year old to be able to play, hitting is OK (straight pitch of course) I'm trying to concentrate on running the bases and throwing.  Getting to the ball in a timely manner and pitching are down the line

The Raiders are a successful organization

My son isn't very good at pretty much anything besides hitting (he has the timing okay from playing Wii Sports).  I actually think he'd be better at fielding than running the bases - he doesn't know baseball well enough to know when to run or where to throw most of the time, but he can use a d-pad at least a tiny bit.

I prefer vs. humans too, but my friends are all wanks.  So, I play vs. juiced CPU.  Regular CPU is boring, but for me the juiced version is a challenge.  So, I do things like my 30 team challenge and it makes it interesting again.

I'm in New Berlin.  I'd love to have a Madison RBI Circuit...if you're serious, I'm down, whether it be a league, a pickup circuit online (like the TPC), an in-person tourney like the Dee-Nee Chi-town boys do, or whatever.

If enough people played and I knew it'd have interest, I'm create a full-blown website like Tecmo has for online pickup games, but methinks it wouldn't get much use...

New Berlin isn't that far away, road trip to Madison?  I would host if my wife doesn't mind.  We bought a 37" LCD for Christmas and I've been itching to play someone on it.  I have a couple buddies that play one is at my level and the other is awful.  They are roommates and don't play RBI much they have a wii and I think prefer the more advance games.

I have a house to myself and no wife to mind...  that's why I suggested a Winterfest in Madison.  Since no real fest seems to be in the works this Winter/Spring we should maybe just make it a small gathering focused more on playing some games than on other fest activities like the manlympics.  I'd really like to try the RBI drinking game too.

I have 2 LCD TVs but they might suffer from the NES incompatibility.  Unfortunately, I have no NES's with which I might test that.

anyone ever notice that if you drop a deuce on someones windshield in sub-freezing temperatures, its pretty damn hard to get off once it freezes.

Are you serious?

There's an entire facebook group devoted to it.

unacceptable.  You need to get one if you are on this forum.  I have seen copies of RBI as well at used games stores.  I recommend the video game exchange for NES and RBI game.

Turd

I don't own an NES anymore. I prefer updated rosters (and the comfort of my USB snes controller).
