I'm really surprised by a few of the recent choices.  Capt, do you play straight pitch or anything goes (sorry fkn mclane, I'm not even acknowledging slurve and I don't know why)?
Usually I do play anything-goes. Key's got pretty good movement and all, but for some reason, lefty pitchers always get murdered in my games. Most of the deception you use with righties just doesn't work when you flip it around 180 degrees, whether it's me pitching or my opponent.

In hindsight, I probably should've put Righetti on there instead of Key, because he's got the same problem with less movement, and he can only throw about five pitches before he gets tired.

Once again...Bill Madlock...especially when compared to Pat Sheridan

Why did Big Apple RBI Champ delete his account?  He was all talk on how good he was (IMO), but still added some good RBI chatter.  GDavis?

I dunno what happened.  Seemed like a good guy.  Maybe just got bored with discussing nintendo on the innernets.

I think Big Apple started this thread as a guest, before creating an account.  I seem to remember some sort of short argument, and he never returned.  Too bad, he was a good catalyst for RBI discussion.

If I were to add anything relevant to the discussion (which may be lost..):

1) Tony Armas - Nice power, but he's slower than Barry Bonds, for fuck's sake.
2) Chet Lemon - I feel inclined to put a Detroit player, simply because they have undeniably the best lineup in the game, and I seriously can not see where Lemon Party's supposed power is.
3) Craig Reynolds - He suffers from being the consensus second-best Houston player, when in reality, he blows goats.
4) Tim Laudner - See Armas, except with bad contact to boot.
5) Jack Clark - He also suffers similar to Reynolds, in that he is expected to carry the load for St. Louis. Which he can not....

5 Most overrated players on RBI

1.  Pat Sheridan - Far and away my choice for #1
2.  Pat Sheridan - Bill Madlock is superior in every way
3.  Pat Sheridan - Here's to a Dave Bergman pinch hit homer
4.  Pat Sheridan - Here's where I put in Mike Heath before Sheridan
5.  Pat Sheridan - Edged out Glenn Davis for the #5 spot

Since I have changed my strategy in RBI Baseball, here is my list of the new top five overrated:

5. Pat Sheridan - it's not because of his power or anything, but it gets frustrating to bat as him at times when you mess up the swing and end up grounding out. His contact rating will only net him a +36 power bonus. That's if you don't get the sweet spot of the bat, and Tony Gwynn doesn't have to worry about contact.
4. Most eight-hole hitters except Tom Brookens and Tony Pena - they all suck. That's all I have to say. Brookens can hit for power, Pena can hit occasionally. If only defense was a stat in RBI Baseball...
3. Craig Reynolds - a horrible hitter in my experience. I sub him immediately for Dickie "Penis" Thon. 804 power doesn't mean anything when his contact is 34. He grounds out way too much for me, which explains the Astros in the game as a whole. Glenn "Groundout" Davis is another example. Then again, I am good with using some righties, especially the feared (Canseco, George Bell, Ripken, and some others).
2. Doug Corbett - okay pitcher, but he gets slaughtered by Tony Armas Sr., which could mean a lead lost or Game Over.
1. Gary Pettis - don't get me fucking started. He's a horrible leadoff hitter with no power. Wilf belongs in the California Angels' leadoff spot, not some Pettis groundouts.

I go with Ruppert in the 6 slot for Grich.  I usually let Pettis have one at bat and judge whether or not to bring in Wilfong for the second based on Pettis' first at bat.  Hendrick and Burleson will sometimes go in for Boone.  I usually save Hendrick for a late inning pinch hit bomb opportunity.

Hey guys- I'm back.  Sorry for the absence.  RBI goes in waves for me... I'll play every night for weeks and then stop for a few months.  Anyway, my game is in prime form right now.  Might there be another NYC tourney soon?  I almost threw a non-no with Bertus the other day, which brings up an interesting discussion I will start on a new thread.

I love that I started this post and now I am re-thinking it 4+years later.  The main difference in my life is that I used to pinch hit for boggs late and now i pinch hit for boggs early.

Definitely one of the 5 most overrated returns from a long absense.
