Was just looking at the "games that cannot be beaten" list under NES Victory. (I know, this site's been up for a long time)......

RBI 2 CAN be beaten.  You just pick a team, then you have to beat every other team in the league in succession (I'm sure you know). I hope you do! Once you do that, you play the Tengen team (You have to copy the final password down though to get there.

I've also beaten Track & Field II.  Did you just mean it's difficult?  'Cause it is!  Those are the only 2 games on that list i noticed.

I think I tried to point RBI 2 out for the same reason a few years ago.  I've beaten both RBI 2 and RBI 3 on emulators... the Tengen team is tougher in one of them, because they gave the big hitters (like MeMikeMe, the guy with 70 homers) some speed as well.

It'd be interesting to know if there is a way to get to the other secret teams in RBI 3 - Nightwulf dumped the data for that game a few years ago and found that there are actually four "Tengen Teams", all with identical stats/ratings but with different names.  RBI 2 is kind of the red-headed stepchild of the series (anyone who likes that one likes RBI 3 better), so I don't know if anyone's taken the same look at the data to see if those teams are in that one also.

Good to know, though I doubt we'll ever get to it...

I'm not calling you a liar, but did you beat Track & Field without a turbo controller?  Cause that is very hard to do...

Metal King

Well there are several working codes to uncover all the Tengen "teams" in RBI 3.  Actually I think there's only two that you can use to play AS the Tengen Team (different names), but there are at least 6 codes that'll work that lets you play AS or against the Tengen Team.

They are all "TENGTOP" plus an 11, 12, 13, 21, 22, or 23 at the end of it.  The other ones have you as the T. Team against either the '83 Phillies or '83 White Sox....painfully easy as pie to beat!  I haven't tried any other numbers.

LOL well.....I'll be honest.  As for Track & Field II,  I DID use Turbo.  It's basically impossible without it though!  I just wanted to see how the game ends.  I still have the code somewhere......

Also, don't know if I mentioned this before.  Something neat the programmers did for RBI 3....

All 3 of the band members from Rush are featured on teams!  Alex Lifeson (30 homers) is on the '83 Phillies, Neil Peart (11 homers) is on the '84 Padres.  I know there's already a Lee (Probably Manny Lee) on the Blue Jays, for Geddy Lee.

I was the Rush fan that put their names in the game. Some of the real MLB players had exclusive deals that superceded the MLBPA license, so replacement names were needed. If memory serves, Geddy Lee is just "Geddy", and is a backup pitcher. Ironic that the biggest baseball fan of the three band members is the worst of the three of them in the game :)

That's pretty awesome, I'll need to add that info to the FAQ.

There's a couple of Rush haters on this board so watch your back.  I, on the other hand, am Canadian and appreciate your efforts.

This is terrific.

Klug you magnificent bastard

Metal King

MichaelKlug, you're not the Klug that's on the Tengen Teams are you?  Or are you?  That's super sweet if so!  Also, the '84 Cubs have a ton of sneaky unexpected power in RBI 3, I've hit 450-foot homers with 0 homer guys on that team!!

This is OLD, i'm sorry, just been away for so long.........

BeefMaster

It is the same Klug! He showed up briefly with a few wonderful bits of knowledge.

Also... if you look at the ratings, the '84 Cubs were ridiculously overpowered - most teams' ratings in RBI 3 are pretty strictly based on their stats (I assume they kind of had to do it that way, since there were so many more players than the original), but those Cubs are a whole team of 900-power monsters. Someone in the ratings-assembly department was apparently a big Cubs fan (the '89 team didn't get that treatment because their ratings were a cut-and-paste from RBI 2).

That is so cool that he showed up here, i may have at least 10 questions to ask, lol. Thanks Beef.  I knew there was something up with those '84 Cubs....... Where can i check out all those ratings?  Do they list them for the Tengen Team as well ?

BeefMaster

RBI 3 ratings are in a text file attached to this post: https://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=2382.msg29808#msg29808

There are actually FOUR Tengen teams, all with identical stats but different names.

Cool.  Well i checked out that list, you have one with the names Lipson, Bara, Cameron, etc.  I've never heard of those before, would that one be in my game?  Will that code 00017BA0 work?  Looks like it's missing one character space though.....  I know the "MeMikeMe" team and the Whitfild, Hentchel, Garvey (which i don't see on there) never knew about that 3rd one!

RBI 2 there is just one team, but 2 codes to play the AL, and NL all-stars (as far as i know).  I like that one better 'cause it has four players with over 50 homers !

BeefMaster

I'm not sure about codes to play as or against the other Tengen teams. The MeMikeMe one is the only one I've ever played against.

haha.  Yes, Mike Alexander the Great.

I was playing against the American All-Stars, just killing them, 40-something to 2 or 3,  you know how the computer ALWAYS brings in Eckersley in the 8th.  Well......... he must've been pissed off, because he threw me 10 pitches, ALL SCREWBALLS that dropped down, i took ONE, and swung and missed at the other 9.  lol.

Metal King

Well i found 2 more codes that i never tried before or just forgot about, using the numbers 14 and 24 (both MeMikeMe teams vs. AM and NA).  I was wondering where those were.......  So that's 8 different codes for RBI 3 that work.  I tried a bunch other numbers, but nothing yet.

Other than the Rush member names (brilliant band btw), my favorite name would have to be Woodroe.
