PS with his first hit of the game.  A seeing eye single through the right side.  Lemon drives him in on a double

PS = 1-3

Home runs by:

Evans
Whitaker
Alexander
Madlock

PS goes 1-3 with a single and a run scored.  Impressive start, Pat

Pat Sheridan comes up in the 1st vs Roger Clemens.  Nokes on 2nd, 1 our, Tigers leading 2-0.  Sheridan flies out to center.  With Nokes on 2nd, there is no point in trying to advance and end the inning at 3rd base.

PS = 0-1 in the game; 1-4 on the day

edfan

Nokes ended the 2nd, so Sheridan's 2nd at bat of the game had to wait until the top 3rd.  Sheridan was looking for blood.  Clemens has lost a little zip on his fastball already.  Sheridan is 1st pitch swinging and connects.  At first glance, it has a shot.  The ball dies well shy of the warning track and in Dwight Evans glove.  Can o Corn as they say

PS = 0-2 on the game; 1-5 on the day

edfan

PS lead off the 5th with his 1st extra base hit of the day.  Another seeing eye hit, but thanks to computer AI, it went to the wall and Sheridan got a triple out of it.  Boston proves to be a worthy foe.  I am struggling to hit for power and the Tigers lead shrinks to 7-5 after a 3 run shot by Gedman.  Bottom 6 and Morris is not looking HOF-worthy.  Still better than PS, though

PS = 1-3 in the game; 2-6 on the day

edfan

PS comes up again in the 6th and hits another seeing eye single.

PS = 2-4 in the game; 3-7 on the day so far

edfan

Well what do you know?  After an all around team struggle vs Boston, Tigers bounce back early vs the Twins.  After a leadoff groundout by Trammell, Gibson doubles.  Evans drives in Gibson.  Madlock subs for Nokes.  2 on and 1 out as PS subs in for Herndon.  1st pitch and Sheridan gets a hold of it.  The ball is hit to center and Kirby Puckett is on it.  Puckett drifts back to the wall, and the ball disappears into The Black Thing.  Pat Sheridan hits a 3 run homer to dead center.  1st PS homer in a loooooooong time for me.  We will see if this is the start of a PS turnaround

PS = 1-1 in the game; 4-8 on the day with 1 homer and 3 RBI

edfan

Right back to the old Sheridan.  Leads off the 2nd with a ground out to 3rd.  Lemon follows with a homer.  Oddly, Kirk Gibson and Tom Brookens have yet to homer.  They're usually solid power performers

PS = 1-2 in the game; 4-9 on the day

edfan

Sheridan up for his 3rd at bat in as many innings.  Homered in the first With 2 on and 1 out now he is back in the same situation in the third.  And the result...

edfan

Sheridan pops out in his third and likely final at bat of the game vs Twins

PS 1-3 in the game; 4-10 on the day with 1 home run

edfan

O Doyle Rules Alexander turns in another solid performance.  Mows down all 9 batters he faces in order giving up no hits en route to an 11-0 victory.  Next up Houston

edfan

Sheridan vs Nolan Ryan.  This went about as well as you'd expect.  After fouling off a few, Sheridan gets fooled by the old flutterball.  The umpire counted it as a bunt attempt and called Sheridan out after the ball rolled foul.  Sheridan had some choice words for the umpire, but ultimately cried and ran back to the bench as is RBI protocol

PS = 0-1 is the game; 4-11 overall

edfan

Jack Morris continues to ride the struggle bus in Houston while Pat Sheridan has reached his stop.  Morris gave up a 2 run homer to Glenn Davis.  Pat Sheridan comes up in the top of the 3rd with 2 out and 1 on.  Score tied 2-2.  He got down 0-2 vs Nolan Ryan, but took Ryan deep to right for his 2nd homer of the day.

PS now 1-2 in the game and 5-12 overall with 2 home runs

edfan

#93
PS bats in the 4th and has another seeing eye hit that rolls around long enough for a triple.

PS = 2-3 in the game; 6-13 overall

edfan

Another PS at bat, another PS seeing eye single.  It really is his calling card.

PS = 3-4 in the game; 7-14 on the day with 2 home runs

Sheridan was the only Tiger to homer off of Astros pitching, so there's that.

Jack Morris did finally settle in and gave up no more runs after the Davis dinger.

edfan

Sheridan leads off the 2nd vs the Mets with pop out to Ray Knight.  My hatred of PS is creeping.  What a dick

edfan

Apparently, Pat Sheridan has a 'thing' for Ray Knight.  2nd at bat, he lines out to Knight

PS = POS = 0-2 in the game and 7-16 on the day.

edfan

In the 6th inning, Pat Sheridan falls out of love with Ray Knight and into love with Wally Backman.  Line out to 2nd to push to 0-3 vs the Mets.  Should have at least 1 more AB vs them

PS = 0-3 in the game; 7-17 overall

edfan

PS avoids a hitless game by pushing a dribbler past Rafael Santana in his 4th and final at bat.

PS = 1-4 in the game; 8-18 overall

Fun Fact:  Tom Brookens Hits a home run in every at bat.  Unfortunately, 100% of the time, the hike run is foul

edfan

PS has been up twice vs St Louis.  AB 1 = weak PS dribbler per usual.  AB 2, he flirted with his 3rd homer of the day, but settled for a triple off the top of the wall

That should make him

2-2 in the game and 10-20 on the day
