My router at home is flaky, Comcast is coming at 3-7 to replace today.  Expect random ups and downs

Man of Steal

Seems so. Luckily I haven't fully regained my dependence on DeeNee, so i had no withdrawal symptoms this time.

P.S. - I gave my wife herpes so she could pass them on to you. You're welcome.

Timing sucked, I noticed the flakiness just before my trip so I couldn't replace it last week.  So struggle with it today yall, probably would be better with a reboot but I just got to the office, not driving back for a few hours.

Gerlost

I'm going to send you so many impatient texts.

Gantry

I have no doubt this modem swap is going to take way longer than it should.  I have business class Comcast at my house and sometimes they send a residential person who has no idea what they are doing.  Then they'll fuck up the static IP.

Or I'll get a business class installer who is experienced and have it done in 5 minutes.  You know, why I pay the extra money for business class.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Important tech tip - if you mean to unplug your DVD player but  unplug the router instead, your router will turn off.  Lesson learned...

Too lazy to search if its been posted her before.  Are the forums hosted on a physical or virtual machine?

Gantry is actually plugged directly into the internet, like in The Matrix, and the site is rendered by his spoken ones and zeroes.

Virtual...

That reminds me, Comcast gave me a new modem/router and its features are ass (can't disable ipv6 DHCP giving out Comcast DNS servers, fucks up my internal network) so I'm putting in a Ubiquiti Edgerouter X tomorrow.  As a result my IP will change and DNS will take awhile to propagate.  So late tomorrow night you may not be able to get to the forums.  Deal with it.

Gantry

Now that I think about it, I'll probably move all the WiFi devices to the new router/IP tomorrow and keep the main machine on the current IP.  So it won't go down tomorrow, some other night after I've tested it and am confident in it.  But I won't tell you what day...

Briznock

Interested in your review of the EdgeRouter X.  Currently have a freebie Sonicwall in place but may go ubiquiti when I'm ready to put the old ASUS wifi out to pasture.

I actually was going to put in an old Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT but couldn't get more than 40 megabits out of the WAN port.  I already have the UniFi access point so I'm pretty excited about powering it via the router.  Too excited, actually...

Big fan of Sonicwalls, bunch of my clients have them.  WAN ports can slow down considerably when you turn on all the features though, but recent models likely fixed that.

Gerlost

I've got a TP-LINK Archer C7 and it works great.

Heard good things...
