2. Chili Davis OF
3. Andre Dawson OF
4. Will Clark 1B
5. Tom Brookens 3B
6. Gary Carter C
7. Pat Sheridan OF
8. Chris Speier 2B

Looks better than Shooty's, imo

I've been running some scrimmages with my team on a rom. I'll put together your two teams and come back with some results. The Galactic Empire just put up 14 runs on Gooden and the Mets ... in 4 innings.

Can we finish this fkn thing today?

fightonusc

I've sent messages to the members of T.B.G. and Tempo to get their selections. Would love to get this done today so I can run some practice games over the weekend.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Before I make my pick, one question.  Is there any circumstance in which the 4th pinch hitter actually gets used?  I mean, there's only three times that the pitcher can get hit for.  Is there any other time that the computer will make substitutions?

I'd have to go through the stats from old games and see - I believe in extra innings games there were a few times where the computer decided to PH for the No. 8 hitter, which kind of surprised me. But that maybe happened twice in however many seasons I ran the league.

It's incredibly rare. They'll do it if it's a one run game, I think.

Shooty

Isn't it if you #8 hitter comes up in the 8th or ninth, they will substitute in a pinch hitter?  Or maybe only if you are down

Nacho

Traveling today, proxies sent to Strassy.

Shooty

Good thing we didn't double up the last two rounds of picks.  I may not have got that 3rd and 4th bench players I really want.

I've been running some practice games with some teams from the draft here, and that's exactly how it happens. If you are down in the 8th and 9th, a pinch hitter always comes in to hit for the 8-hole. Looking at the stats from season V, the last guy on the bench got anywhere between 1-5 at-bats in a 22-game season. 1 at-bat and 5 at-bats happened once, while the bulk was between 2-4 at-bats.

And Shooty, you gotta say, you had a real good draft and your team looks very strong. You'll be hard to beat with Gooden starting and even with Scott starting. Your bullpen is okay, but your sticks make up for the runs the bullpen gives up. You have a real explosive offense and Herr was a gem you found. I should say that Nacho also found a gem with Doran. Usually I take those types of guys at 2B, but this draft I chanced on Whitkr. We'll see how what works out, but he'll have to earn it since I got Sandbrg to compete for the job.

The guys with power under 780 and have a higher contact rating seem to hit slap hits and slow roller basehits with eyes. Add speed to that player, and you have a good weapon at the bottom of the lineup. Doran, Barret, and OSmith gave me great production from that spot with my past teams. That is, great enough production and not a liability because of their speed.

Excited for games. Been way too long since someone did all the work and ran one of these things.

It'll be fun for sure! 2010 was the last official time a Fantasy League was run and that was when I ran it. I also did season V in 2009 and it was a lot of work but worth it. 2 seasons burnt me out because I wanted them at a faster pace and that meant a lot of hours doing the games, creating and updating the roms, boxscores, youtube uploads, stats, and game recaps. Making a schedule was easily the biggest pain in the ass since I did it by hand for 10 teams and calculated that no team saw the same SP the second time around in the schedule.

I'm still tinkering with my lineup and making some guys compete for a job as we speak. McLane, The Empire just beat your team 18-6! Will you be the Poopydicks again?

The scrimmages I have been simulating have been fun. I've been using different SP's for the teams I have created so far -   2-man rotation.

Agreed

Darky

Nacho's team (Sally Cunts?) just beat McLane's team in bottom of the 9th. Bedrsn blew a 9-8 lead in the 9th.

And some teams are making much more errors than others. In the ROM editor, Fighton needs to set it to a reasonable level and have it the same for all the teams - that's what I did. I put Tempo's team in the STL slot and McLane's team in the MIN slot, and both of those teams are clearly making more errors than other teams. STL's slot is set at 11 errors and Minnesota's slot is set at 10 errors. In contrast, National is set at 4 errors. I forgot what I number I used for all the teams when I ran seasons V and VI, but I think I set the errors for 2 for every team.

haha, nice try. The ROM editor does not allow a pitcher to hit anywhere but 9th, nomaaa. Have you been on shrooms during your move?  8)
