I had to choose between having a serviceable C and SS over the starters / relievers I wanted.

Niekro, spahn, Neikro were my top 3

I sent you the trade anyway Darky.  You decide the best course of action.

Post the trade details for me here and it's approved.

Shooty

Shooty trades 2 hall of famers, Stan the Man and Ernie Lombardi to GDavis for a career .241 hitter, Gene Tenace and a 16th round pick.

Musial will take 7th round slot in this trade. So GDavis won't have a pick in round 7 due to the uneven trade and considering Musial's value. You will take his last pick in the last round. Those are the conditions now that I am back home from work and had a chance to think about it. You two have until Musial's/Gdavis draft slot in the 7th round to call it off. Those are the final conditions and there'll be no negotiating that.

What? How does that math work? There's two players on one side and one player and one draft pick on another. How does GDavis lose a pick?

That makes no sense at all.  Why does GDavis lose his 7th round pick?  There's no logic to that all.  Also how is it an uneven trade?  For who?  Both teams become better from the trade.  Taking the 7th round pick from GDavis just makes it look like you are now afraid he is planning to draft someone that is on your short list.

Shooty

Look at it this way Darky.

The trade was essentially Musial and a 7th pick for Tenace and a 16th pick.  (I just used the 7th round pick to draft Lombardi for GDavis).

That seems fair considering Tenace was drafted in the second round and Musial in the 6th.  Taking away GDavis' 7th pick now arbitrarily just puts things out of whack.

You're better than this (?)

GDavs obtained 2 players and gave up his last pick to Shooty. Musial had to fill a slot and with his value, he takes the 8th round slot which is pick 78.

My bad, I made an error by saying 7th round.

Shooty

Idiotic.

We'll just wait until after the draft then and do the same trade.  I'll just tell GDavis who to pick in round 16 for me.

What does Musial's value have to do with you taking a pick away from him?

Again, you do realize Tenace was drafted 4 rounds before Musial and that Tenace is the more valuable player when taking position into account, right?

Why not just take away my 9th round pick for the hell of it?  Makes just as much/little sense.

Nacho

If anything, this trade is skewed toward Shooty, not GDavis.

GDavis

16th pick goes to Shooty - not the 8th.

Yes.  We all agree (apart from Darky).  I think we're all prepared to ignore his ruling and carry on.

GDavis

Darky

I explained the conditions and that's final. I advised to wait until after the draft if you recall.

Yes, he gets that last pick, but Musial will take the 78th spot in your draft order. Shooty has made his 8th round pick. You are not losing a draft pick since you got an extra player in the deal.

BeefMaster

If I am reading this correctly, Darky just is trying to figure out where to put the new player in the existing draft list.

Nacho

You guys should just cancel the trade. This makes no sense.

That's specified as part of the trade. It's actually kind of key to the whole trade.
