Anyhow, If McLane, Gantry, Flood, or myself wins this thing I will proudly drop the controller used to win it off at Cooperstown on my way home. I will also riot and burn the hotel down while I'm at it.

I'll bring the marshmallows.

I have myself ranked as #1 Dad.
Don't let Mr. Izzy Mandelbaum hear you say that, Junior

I think those odds are all fucked up:

* I believe people who don't "know" anybody involved and are still willing to throw down $100 and the cost of airfare/hotel/food and are willing to "waste" a weekend are probably pretty good players--not 20/1 odds.

They are still at best 20-1 to win it.

I would be shocked if someone outside the top 4 won it

The Raiders are a successful organization

I really think this is more realistic.

Foster: 3/1
Riley: 3/1
Beales: 3/1
JoeDirt: 7/2
Bandur: 10/1

Field  20/1

Actually, you are getting much better than 20-1 odds on them; in theory, a "field" bet would pay out 20/1 if any of the four "other" players were to win. Versus a normal bet where you only get one person per bet.

Also, keep in mind that lines are set to attract the maximum amount of action possible, and to spread the action out as evenly as possible. Therefore, they don't always reflect what the bookmakers think the "true" odds are of someone or some team winning.

* How can Foster have better odds than Riley when Riley beat Foster in two series? Foster scored a total of one run in the first series, too...

Fair enough. Although I think that Colin has a much better track record in tournament play over the long haul, versus one great showing.

* I cannot accept that I have worse odds than Riley (or Beales or Foster). Riley and I have played probably 10,000 games and we agree, there's no way to say either of us is better than the other.

I understand you're likely to say that I finished 4th in the last tourney, but that's a handful of games as your sample size. I have 10,000 games as my sample size. True odds have to have Riley and I as equal or they are not true odds.

All I have to go on are hard facts based on actual tournament competition. And based on that, I have to rank you behind Riley, Foster and Beales (the last two winners of the COTUT and the only player to place in all three.

Quit worrying about the odds and start worrying about the games...

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

It has been written, and so it shall be:

RDub and I are on board.  We arrive Thursday, the 23rd in the evening.  We will be wearing suits, and heading to the nearest strip club.  We stay through Monday at the Ramada Airport.  You are all in trouble.

WARNING:

You will immediately like both RDub and I.  You will want to hang out with us.  Drink beers with us.  Trade witty banter with us.  Your infatuation will soon turn to utter disgust and hatred as you realize we are not fun people.  Instead, we are bitter, angry bastards who will stab  you in the back for a piece of ass, will steal the last beer out of your fridge, and will lead you on an adventure that ends in a police cruiser.  Do not be fooled by our charming and sometimes witty exteriors.  We are ASSHOLES.  Assholes that should be shunned and vilified.  You have been warned.

Hmm, let's see...

-  "stab you in the back for a piece of ass": I'm married, so this won't be a problem in Columbus (i.e. I won't be chasing any pieces of ass, and in fact will be living vicariously through the single guys).
- "steal the last beer out of your fridge" - again, I don't think I'll have a fridge in my hotel room, so not a problem.
-  "will lead you on an adventure that ends in a police cruiser" - I'm staying with fknmclane, so I budgeted "bail money" into the trip expenses. As long as no one headbutts be out of the blue, I'll be in good shape.

I place odds on

Malnu losing his virginity to a stripper whilst out with MikeD and I: 10 to 1

MikeD getting in a fight with  a Dee-nee'r: 5 to 1

Stripper cooze getting stabbed at the Ramada Inn: even money

fightonusc

I won't the be Dee-Neer getting into a fight with MikeD. He's large and intimidating, while I am small and fragile.

I say put money in a hat to the dee-nee'r who bangs the nastiest / fattest stripper.

I'm in, keep in mind I suck at golf, but I don't chase the balls I hit into the woods so I should keep up.
What do you got there, the 4 volt? I did you a favor.

Mike D.

Cool.  One more?  Mclane?  Gantry????  Anyone??

I'll definitely play if I can somehow get my brother to give me his clubs for a cross-country, RBI tournament/drunkfest.  But don't count me in for sure.

I have been ejected from a golf cart that was doing donuts down a hill once, the damn thing almost ran me over.
