i think this is the right forum for this.

fightonusc and gantry do really well at tracking down where our beloved RBIers end up, but would it be easier if some of the dee-neers were assigned certain RBIers.

for example, if i were to sign up for Craig Reynolds, i would be responsible for posting news about him, current pictures, birthdays.

maybe we could get our own threads for these?  i dunno.  it just popped into my head, and i thought it was at least worth mentioning.

let me know what you guys think.

Gantry

I'm game, we get a posse of 4-5 we can make a dent on the unknown shamers...

dvldog

i knew i should have posted it in here... damn.

maybe we could just do the 'undesirables,' like the Rafael Santanas and the Steve Lamborginis.

Gantry

Anyone who is not currently on the HOS is fair game...

fightonusc

Wait, are we talking about the Hall of Shame, or the Where Are They Nows? I'm confused.

Gantry, go back to original Hall of Shame A Thon thread - there's quite a few there that haven't been added to the home page yet...

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Gantry

Everyone but me is talking about WATN, which is an ever better idea...

I'll get those HOS updates shortly...

i was thinking if you volunteer to track an RBIer, you'd be responsible for digging up any new info.  no matter how old it is.  so, WATN, HOS, pics, etc.

fightonusc

How many people do you trust to actually do this?

if people volunteer, they should keep up with their players.

i think all information should be cited with an internet link.

this could be a good opportunity for new members.

i also see this idea never leaving the ground or if it does, having the project become an utter disaster.

Gantry

What we want is

Information....   Information...  Information...

Dissenter - "You won't get it"

"By hook or by crook, we will"

Name that TV show and you have my respect...

Ryno23

I'm game as well.

Nude pics of rbi'ers wives would garner bonus points.

If I was assigned Donnie Moore, would I be responsible for digging up any remains?

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

This article from June from the Detroit Free-Press has a lot of good information on Tigers players from the 1984 World Series team. Such as...

Juan Berenguer is now a car salesman at Lakeville Ford in the Minneapolis area.

Willie Hernandez moved back to Puerto Rico. He recently sold his construction business and now operates a farm.

Jack Morris does color commentary on Twins games (although, this may not be the case now?)

Dave Bergman still lives in the Detroit area. He is partner and senior portfolio manager at Sigma Investment Counselors in Southfield. Also a partner and instructor at the The Hitting Zone, an indoor baseball training facility in Mt. Clemens.

Tom Brookens, as I previously reported, coaches his daughters' high school softball team in rural PA.

Darrell Evans is now the "Principal Baseball Consultant" for Netamin, which claims to have developed the first MMOG environment for sports games.

Lou Whitaker is retired and staying home, "taking care of my kids and getting them through school," he said.

Ruppert Jones lives in San Diego and sells employee benefits to government contractors for the Boon Group.

Chet Lemon is president of the Florida AAU. His team, Chet Lemon's Juice, recently won its fifth straight Florida AAU state championship. Nearly died of a rare blood disorder in the early '90s, ending his playing career.

Dan Gladden Baseball Camps include coaches Gene Larkin and Tim Laudner.

Gene Larkin is also a financial advisor at New Era Financial in Minneapolis.

Morris did color on Twins games, but never regularly - he was Gladden's replacement when Gladden took a week off to go to the Sturgis bike rally.  Previous subs (Gladden makes the trip every year) were Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett, and Gene Larkin.  I don't know that Morris has a regular job other than that.  If he does, it's flexible enough that he could come down to Rochester to watch his sun play baseball in the middle of the afternoon (he was at a game I went to this summer).
