Apparently the Brewers are trying to set him up with an office job.

I sold numerous filet-o-fish sandwiches to former Bulls great Dickey Simpkins during my tenure at McDonald's in high school.

I know I am going to get a ton of shit for this, but the nicest player I ever met in person was John Rocker.  My college roommate and I were in a bar Downtown Milwaukee and ran into him.  We saw him and busted his chops about the SI article, but was super cool about it.  "Don't ever talk to a reporter", he said, and asked if he could get us a drink.  He actaully bought us drinks on his tab the rest of the night.  He was at the bar with some other ball players (nobody famous), who really didn't give a shit about us.  John told us we were college students and didn't have money for drinks.

We went to the game the next day and chanted his name into the pitcher bullpen.  He asked us if we wanted an autograph from anyone.  I said Chipper, and my roommate said Maddux.  He jogged to the dugout and came back with 2 bats (both signed by chipper).  He apologized and said Maddux wasn't signing today.  It was still super cool.  He was such an entertainer in the bullpen, that everyone around us was cheering him on during the game.
He also signed a baseball for both of us that said "I love NY".

On a serious note, I was never a big fan of the Giants, but I always enjoyed watching Will Clark play.  I could have done without his stellar performance in the '89 NLCS, but bottom line the guy was a gritty, balls out type player ---- and damn did he ever have a beautiful swing.   He was intense.

I still never figured out how someone goes by the name "Dickey" - to me it's a no brained to be Rich or Richard.  Even Dick sounds better, how does one choose Dickey given the alternatives?

The Thrill was a great ball player.  Always loved the guy, even with that "someone pissed in my cheerios" look.
