I noticed that Teddyballgame added a Career Statistics table to Bobby Grich's page.  I'm not sure if TBG came up with that idea or not, but it's good idea...

Anyways, two more templates should probably be created.  Just like we have the two templates for RBI stats, we'll want templates for career pitching stats and career batting stats.

I'm off to bed, otherwise I'd probably look into it...

...ok, I partially lied.  I am going to bed, but I'm also very lazy.

Oh yeah, what's up with the database server time?

It's not formatted here (it would be if I put the < pre> tags back in), but it looks good on the Wiki.

Oh, and I threw together a page for Puckett yesterday, too, and I used the template this time.  I also put Gladden's hitting stats into template form.

From the looks of those stats, I'm gonna say they belong to Mr. Kent Hrbek?  Although I'm surprised to find he broke the 100 RBI barrier but one time.

You are correct.  And that is surprising - it didn't help that the Twins' leadoff man (Gladden) couldn't get on base and Puckett cleared the bases a lot with homers, so I guess I can see how it would happen.

i only corrected a large space that was in the table making it look funky.  i don't really know what i'm doing with the wiki/database so sometimes my contributions are like vomit.  i'm putting something on there, but it might not look very good.  but hey, it's something.

Do we want year-by-year stats, rather than just career ones?  That'd throw quite a monkeywrench in the templates, I think, as well as taking a lot more work to enter into the DB.

Gantry

Year by year would be nice, but at this point it's overkill.  We need real pages for every RBI'er before we're hand-entering stats for a whole career, especially since baseball reference does a fine job of it anyway...

BeefMaster

I was just doing some editing on the Sandberg page (I didn't mess with ShitPaw's opus; just adding the template and bio data to the beginning of the article), and I noticed that there's no good way to show a player's stats for both the arcade and NES versions of RBI.  As a placeholder, I have the batter template filled in twice, but I'd prefer to just make a quick copy of the template with a different title.  How does one go about editing the templates?

I also just filled in the Cubs arcade page - it would be good to have an ArcadeTeams template like the one for the NES teams that goes at the bottom of the page.

i find it odd that Sandberg's power rating is lower in Arcade, yet I've hit tons more homers with the arcade version of Sandberg.

Good job on the edit.

You get my official seal of approval.

BeefMaster

I added ArcadeBatter and NESBatter templates, for players who appear in both games.  I've only filled them in for Ryno and the Hawk so far, but keep them in mind, especially for Houston players.

I haven't edited any pitchers who are in both versions; I'll make copies of the pitcher template if/when I do.

Nice work Beef!  I have been super slacking on the db lately, your work is much appreciated...

3 things (this should probably go on a talk page, but I think this is more likely to be looked at):

1) I was doing some edits on the year pages (adding stuff for Sandberg, mostly), and I was thinking that it would be good to list RBIers who made All-Star teams each year on the page for that year.  Do others agree that this should have its own heading?  That seems to me to be the cleanest way to do it.  Similar headers could be used for Gold Gloves and/or Silver Sluggers.  Example:

== RBI All-Stars ==
American League: Kirby Puckett, Wade Boggs
National League: Tony Gwynn, Enrico Palazzo
== RBI Gold Glove Winners ==
etc.

EDIT: I'm adding this for the 1987 entry.  It can be purged if it is ugly.

2) How does the banning process work on a wiki?  Gantry has cleaned up multiple spam edits from "Yourname", and I just caught another one between my edits this morning and this afternoon (the Don Robinson page; I'm sure that brought them tons of traffic).

3) I do not have a database page.  If rdub can start a whole thread on the subject, I figure I am within my rights to casually mention it at the end of a post in a thread only three people will probably read anyway.

All these spam entries are done via computer scripts, "Yourname" is likely just a default name.  Manually banning users probably won't do a damn thing, so I typically don't take the time.

I don't know why Mediwiki (the software that runs the RBIdb and Wikipedia) doesn't have an option to verify email addresses before signup.  That would eliminate 98% of all spam out there..

Great work so far Beefmaster, please keep it up.  Lips, Vit and I have a 12 hour drive to Oklahoma tomorrow for the wrestling, so there will be a good chunk of database updates.  Now that Lipitz is stuck in a car with me, he has no choice but to do some editing...

Bumpst for MrOJ...how about an explanation?

Here is my explination... most likely a shitty one...

I searched for MrOrangeJuice on Yahoo! and the 2nd result was the page you made of me on the RBI Database.. it talked shit about me, most of which was most likely true  ???, but it pissed me off with the other shit.  So out of retaliation i got mad and deleted a few pages.  Yes, stupid, I know.  As for Gantry's message, I don't think I ever got one, and if I did must have deleted it b/c when I go to my messages Gantry has never sent me one.

Sorry guys...
