Quote... and we'll call one team the "Dee-Nees" and one team the "Dah-Nahs", and then have a draft so people can pick what player's stats they want - it'll be great!

After this weekend, we should have "D Knee" and "Dih Nih" teams...

Looks like we have more than 5 to do the RBI arcade.  We'll take votes until Monday and order a set of ROMs then.  Booyah!  That's the quickiest turnaround ever for a dee-nee project, good work TBT

Damn Gantry, its good to know that I can get some serious Tony Kornhieser dap for doing absolutely nothing.....Dee-Nee cred is Dee-Nee cred, so i'll take it.   ;)

Can "Dih Nih" even field a starting 9?

If it's not too late, I would be in for both the arcade version and same team rom.  This is an excellent find!

i think the best option would be to get that translated edition of Family Stadium (the one with season mode) finished up, i would easily pay 35 bucks to get my hands on that.

i would also buy a RBI 2005 cart, but we would have to somehow agree on the teams and ratings, etc.

So what's it going to be?  Let's not introduce too many new options because if we keep doing that, we're never going to get anything accomplished.  Also remember, if this goes well, we'll be ordering more ROMs in the future.

I say let's move forward with the Aracde ROM, since 1) it's the leading vote getter and 2) it does not require a debate on ratings, teams, etc.

And if this goes well, I suggest we sit tight on the 2005 ROM until the season ends.  Perhaps we can have all the ground work done so that the ROM is ready to go as soon as the season ends (team selections, P per team, etc).

Thoughts?

I'm willing to take the lead in this project, if it's helpful...

Unfortunately it's not possible, unless you can find some Japanese carts using the Namcot mapper to use as "donor carts," and own an adapter to play them on the NES. I think that particular Family Stadium was the only one using bizarre hardware though. You might be able to find suitable carts for the other FS games.

In theory the game could probably be recoded to use a more standard mapper, but that's really not a project I have time to tackle.

I'm way behind on this but count me in on any carts you guys want to make, ones that I'm really interested in are RBI2K5 and the Arcade version
What do you got there, the 4 volt? I did you a favor.

JoeDirt

Gantry/TBT...are either of you going to get this done or do you want/need me to step in?

He sent another followup email already, he is clearly on top of things and knows his shit. I think two possible carts initially:

Gantry...I'm gonna take over this operation to get in done.  Can you please forward the emails that to/from the guy so I can get all caught up?

Also, somewhere I think you said you can get free shipping or something like that?  I probably should re-read this entire thread....

I posted the emails in this thread, I think...

Basically he said $30 shipped if we get at least 5 orders....

I'm really lost on this one, so whomever decides to collect the loot, just drop me a PM and I'll send you some cash.

This thread scares me, because of it's implications.  Somewhere, some dude has the ability to cheaply make an RBI cartidge that looks/plays/feels like the original, but Jimmy Key has the ability to knock one over the fence.  That's not a world I want to live in.

i doubt that jimmy key can do that, but it would be an interesting wildcard feature if the pitchers were somewhat near the crappiness realm of say rapheal santana or spike owen.

not a sure out by any means, but not fearable.

This was an initial concern to me as well.  Would anyone have the ability to actually check the validity of a cartridge this guy made?
Not like he would have any reason to alter any stats, but maybe he is the kind of guy that just likes to fuck with people (you know, like the guy who made Brett a righty on the original version).
