RBI Baseball is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.  As I mention in my other thread I just started I'm coming back to a lot of my NES favorites.

My other favorite right now is Temco's SuperBowl.  It's a great game simulator with a loyal following of football fans to this day...not unlike RBI is for baseball fans.  I've found that a number of people have "hacked" TSB to create updated rosters, even updated color schemes for those teams who've altered their uniforms (remember those Tampa Bay "orange crush" uniforms from the early 90s?!?  ;D )

So, my obvious question is gonna be: Has anyone done the same thing for RBI?  I'd love to be able to play with updated rosters.  It would be even better if anyone has found a way to hack the ROM to have all the teams represented rather than just the league leaders from a area of time.

Thanks for any info you might be able to provide.

Go to www.dee-nee.com and on the left side you see a link called ROMs.  Go there and ye shall find.

coupla reasons... so far he only seems confused... hopefully i can steer him in the right direction and save him.  i was concentrating most of my anger on that opp guy who was downright beligerent as you saw.  plus i am not yet hammered.  hopefully i will get drunk and come back really pissed at anyone who blasphemes rbi, the simpson, or karate kid.  those thing i cannot stand for.

I understand why Glassjoe is upset.  He did get slammed pretty bad when first joining.  But Dove is right.  This kid seems like an innocent twelve year-old walking into a candy store.

I'm still pissed about this RBI 2 and 3 talk.  I will ruthlessly belittle the next person to bring up those games.

First of all, let my express my profound gratitude at the lack of flaming on my poor newbie hide.  As a humble offering of my gratitude I spent at least 70 minutes last night playing RBI... NOT RBI2 or 3.

I fear that I may be tempting the flame lords here, but I still do not have an answer to this question: What is the reason that RBI (the original) is considered superior to RBI2 or RBI3?  I ask this not to sound callous or to attack you good people at all, but rather to learn...to become a better RBI student...to advance my studies in RBIology...to-- well, you get the picture.  What, specifically, makes RBI better than it's sequels?

Because RBI 1 isn't just a game, it's a way of life.  If you have to ask that question, you should really consider finding some other site to waste time while at work.  And again, never bring up those two games again. It's like acknowledging Caddyshack 2 exists.  Which it doesn't.

So... the answer is that there isn't an answer because to ask the question is to acknowledge a product that doesn't exist because to acknowledge that it exists would require a question to to be asked which would seem to require an answer and we know that the answer isn't allow as per above.   Right?

That's exactly right.  RBI 2 and 3 don't exist.

Again, I've never actually played them before.  I've seen them played but that was many moons ago.  My advice is to go to your local gaming store and see if they have them, then proceed to play.  Then you'll definitely see the differences.  I'd be very surprised if they would charge you more than 5 bucks per game.  I think a dollar is the going rate for pieces of shit these days.

Caddyshack II does exist.  Sorry.  It's absolutely embarrassing because it's about one onethousandth of the original but there are a couple of moments.  You must admit that at least.

Good call on Caddyshack 2.  One of my roommates once brought that movie home with great flourish.  He didn't understand how poor it was.  I proceeded to beat him unconcious with an empty SoCo bottle.

I'd like to acknowledge that last comment Dove, but unfortunately it never happened.  Because Caddyshack 2 never happened.

That's right... I dreamed that incident.  For the record, I'd like to say that "The Next Karate Kid" also did not happen.  Pure folklore.

Everyone be sure to check out the Sports Guy on espn.com this week.  NFL preview using Top Gun quotes.  Good stuff.

Why didn't they ever make a Top Gun 2?  Maverick a washed up drunk addicted to painkillers.  Ice starring in gay porn, taking two poles at once.  Kelly McGillis finally getting that sex change, giving one of the poles Ice is taking.  Good stuff.

many happy little rbi roms on my goofy little site here

Gantry

Wow jrg, did I know this site existed?  I have to get off my ass here...  I'm adding your site to the Links page and I should put it somewhere on the ROMs page, since whatever ROMs you update will be more current on your site...

jrg

thanks gantry.

if you'd like you can just erase my old, outdated roms you have up on your site now (the 69,85,97,spring 95, and "old" 2002 roms are mine). maybe just throw a link to my page, since i have a growing shitload of roms piling up on my site now.

by the way, for the people out there who actually play with my roms, i am working on updating my 2003 roms, adding final rosters and stats, and realigning the teams so the playoff teams are all together on the main rom and the rest of the teams are on the other 2, divided now into AL and NL. The should be done some time this week.
