It is 2005 and both of the surviving RBI'ers are going to be playing in the postseason (barring disintegration by Houston).  My mind is continuously blown by this knowledge.  All these years later.

Anyway, who's to say that one of them will wind up costing their team a title somehow or another.  What pessimism.

Incidentally, Houston and Atlanta should be facing each other in the first round, meaning one is guaranteed to advance and the other to have his season end there.

Also, and now I'm just rambling, does anybody else see parallels of the RBI Houston Astros and the 2005 real life Astros?  Best pitching in town, but with shitty shit shitty mcshitty offense.  I wonder if their fates will also parallel.

See me and Julio down by the schoolyard.

this is quality

Thank you, but I do have to credit borrowing the "Mc" part from Attezz- "Irish Hater" -obal.

This string is also used when we play allstars and Mike Schmidt comes up to bat.  It's shitty shit shitty mcshitty Mike Schmiddy!

Note:  I have nothing against the real life Mike "Mustache" Schmidt, just the RBI one.

Gantry

That's a quality nickname, and I made the first edit to the RBI Baseball Database in weeks:

PS - Julio Franco killed the Cubs in the postseason two years ago.  He'll be clutch again this year...

ultimate7

Suprisingly his career PS numbers are fairly poor, I'm now rooting for the Braves to win the NL, with lots of help from Julio.

Don't ever make me look bad again, I do a good enough of a job for myself...

Julio went 4-8 against the Cubs two years back in the Postseason...But outside of that he hasn't been impressive in the postseason.

Thanks Gantry, there are probably more gems we come with while playing stone-drunk, but alas, not much at all is retained in memory.

And Julio should be in the starting lineup in Game 1 on Wednesday against the leftie Pettitte, but the rest of Ho's starters are righties (Unless they actually decide to start Wandy), so Senor Franco will probably be saved for pinch hit duty in the other games...  I will be severely disappointed if he doesn't face Roger at least once.

Clemens finishes the year with an ERA of 1.87 (on an undercover cop).  That's amazing.

Julio is batting 5th today, struck out in his first AB.

The two are going to square off tonight.   I may have to play a "watch" game tonight.....Boston vs. AL, start Clemens and insert Franco into the 8th slot for AL and see if it accurately predicts who wins Game 2.

It will be a magical and emotional moment for us when those two square off.

I'm guessing LaRoche will actually start the game at first.  The only chance would be Franco as a PH later in the game, however it's doubtful Clemens would still be in that late.

Yeah, kind of painful watching Julio strike out twice yesterday.  On the bright side, he did have a really good, typical Julio at-bat where he fouled off a bunch of pitches and managed to take some borderline ones to eventually draw a walk when the Braves were already down a few runs.  I was kind of surprised that Cox didn't pinch hit with LaRoche when Jules came up against a rightie later in the game with runners on.

And Hath is probably right that LaRoche will start, but I do remember that the last time the Braves faced off against Clemens this season, Julio unexpectedly got the start.  Maybe he's a good match up, dunno.

I say that if we do a 2005 ROM, Clemens and Julio have to have their actual NES RBI ratings...

Why would you want to punish Julio like that?

Julio has just delivered a 9th inning, pinch hit single.

He will not, however, be allowed to run for himself.

His power may be pretty shitty, but he is after all the fastest player on AL...

I don't think he's a bad player on the NES ROM...perhaps if compared to some of the mashers on his all star team, but otherwise, he's decent enough.
