how rare is the 5 home run game? i just had my first with Jim Rice. he hit two grannies, two 2-run shots and added a solo job (13 rbi's!). it almost seemed as though the computer wanted it to happen, as two bops occurred to wade boggs with 2 outs in each inning to bring rice to the plate, to which he went yard both times. im pissed i wasted the feat on the computer.
ps- in a side note, gedman went deep twice. a rare feat in itself.

A 5 homer game is a pretty rare occurance.  I've only done it a handful of times but it's incredibly difficult.  I'd have to say it's just about impossible to do against a human player.

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

the dude either has some high float or a mess between the cheeks.

You must stipulate the situation, tough in straight pitch, next to impossible in curve and somewhere inbetween against the CPU.  I've had the 6 dinger game with Alan Trammell in straight pitch...  See the records page for more feats:

The 5-homer game needs to be discussed further.  How many people have done it in curve/slurve?  Has anyone done the 6-homer curve game?  7 homer game in any style?

TbT

i would say the equivalent to the 5/6 homer game in straight would be a 2 or 3 homer game in curve.  youd have to get lucky with someone and have em come up multiple times when the pitchers were starting to peter out.  maybe some extra inning affair would help with the last homer.

it sure wont be me hitting 2-3 homers with one guy in curve.  If i can get henderson, rice and baylor to all go yard once in a 3 game set im happy.

I've never seen a 4 hr game in ATG, let alone a 5 hr game...but then again, I almost exclusively play against Riley, so you know neither of us would ever stand for such things...

I guess ATG multi-homer games can be debatable because of your opponent.  If you get 5 dingers in ATG, most would reason that the person isn't doing their job.  If a guy has hit 4 dingers off of you already, you don't give him anything to hit come AB #5.  So I guess it's with an asterix many times in cuver, similar to no-hitters...

JoeDirt

Plus, we play for straight cash money homey, so there's no crying about IBB--you gotta do what you gotta do to win a ballgame.

So you guys play for money everytime?

BeefMaster

Growing up, I played what is now referred to as "slurve" (no formal rules, but it was understood that you should throw hittable pitches), and I don't recall many 4 or 5 homer games.  I do remember hitting 3 in one game with Tommy Herr, which is like a 5-homer game with a good player.

Shit, I don't think any of us have gone yard three times with Herr in vanilla straight pitch.  Though I take Herr out for Blank Morris typically, but still an impressive feat...

Yeah...nothing major, just a few bucks for funsies.  Lately, we've been holding tourneys in the format of the COTUT and then the OH Nat'l Tourney so we can get used to it...

Never had anything near a 5HR game in ATG.  I think 5HR games in straight pitch are fairly common.  Probably one every 10-15 games or so.  I am sure we have had 6+ homer games before, but we usually are not keeping track, and usually are in no shape to acurately keep track.
Surprisingly T.Herr does fairly well for me.  He usually always gets at least one bomb for me in Straight Pitch.  This is why I wonder if Nightwulf was on to something when he brought up the possibility of a power boost depending on where the batter bats in the order.  I also do very well with Boggs in the 3 hole.  Walling however is a piece of shit no matter what.

This is a prime example of why you suck. If you'd start treating my Cardinals better, Herr would start performing, and Oquendo would become your huge clutch hitter as well.

Big words coming from a virus...     Oquendo is already clutch for me, he is the Bergman of Stl easily - save him for a clutch dinger and he'll typically produce.  As for Herr?  Well, he is just a pile of ass and Blank Morris has proved his mettle...

i hit 4 homers with Bob Boone against the computer.

I hit 3 homers with Hrbek against JoeDirt.  The planets were aligned juuuuust right that night.

JoeDirt

Uh, I don't deny that you killed me with Hrbek ONE TIME, but it was two HRs!

i think it was 3. . . . . . i'm pretty sure it was 3. . . . . 2 homers wouldn't have a big deal.

Quit pissing on my parade. . ... . albeit a parade with one float, it's still MY parade.

I know that I've had a 4 homer game with Tom Brookens, as well as some of the other power brokers.  I cannot recall having a 5 homer game.  The tough thing with that is the 10 run rule.  There have been times where I intentionally let the computer score runs, so I can keep beating the crap out of it.  Does that still count or does that deserve an asterisk?
