So, so confused.

The question was who hit the earliest home run, in terms of date? Or who hit the earliest home run during the day?

I'm sure some of these guys played ball in the Alaska college league, and some may have played in Japan as well, that would skew the results.

TbT

its possible that be earliest he means youngest?  you crazy dee-nee guys you

i dunno just a thought.

Yeah for question #1 I meant which RBI'er hit the earliest homer in terms of what year it was.  Reggie is the only one to have hit homers in the 60's.  He hit 1 homer in 1967 and that was his first ever one.   I think a few NL pitchers from the game may have hit homers earlier too.  It'd have to be either Sutton or Ryan, as they both debuted in 1966.

Gooden is correct for #2, but Sutton is not (question #5 heh heh) I'm tryin' ta trick ya's.  Think strike year for the 2nd answer to #2

#3 Gooden & Sutton are correct.

#4, Clemens and Gooden are 2 of them, they also led in all 3 in one season at least once, Clemens did it twice, or maybe 3 times.....the third one was a teammate of Ryan's (should be easy now)!

#5 was answered correctly with Sutton.  I thought it was Blyleven at first just off the top of my head, but i looked, he led one year in the mid 80s.

I knew it had to be the strike year based on #3

#2 Gooden and Fernando

Yep, Fernandomania, 180 K's,  would've been well over 200, damn strike.

There's still an answer left for #4, he's a teammate of Ryan's on RBI Baseball.  And he DID lead in wins, k's, and era at least once, I never knew before I looked it up.

I think I'll ask just one question at a time, I got a bit confused too.

I just looked it up and Mike Scott and Nolan Ryan are correct for question #2, as both led the league in K's their first year.

Scott and Ryan are also correct for #3

What am I missing you?

Are you joking?  Scott was a terrible pitcher until 1986 (his first year was '79 or '80) he didn't lead in anything until then.  I assume you are joking, but I don't get it.

Crap, not sure what I was thinking, when I checked the BR black ink part of their pages I just scrolled down and immediately saw black ink.

Oops.

Gantry

Scott was terrible until he teamed up wtih Roger Craig and learned the split finger...

Rafael Santana is the answer to the "penis as large as a bat" question...

?  Fernando's first year was 1980 (16k), unless '81 still counts as "first year" because of his rookie status...
I've been swimming in raw sewage ... I love it

Metal King

By "first year" i meant first full season.  That's usually how they go by that.

Fernando barely played in 1980, I should have said first full season.  He WAS a rookie in 1981 though.

Mark McGwire played in 1986, then hit the 49 hr in 1987, and won AL ROY.  1987 is usually regarded as his first "year."

Here's another question.  Which RBI PITCHER has hit the most career home runs?  It's a new stat in the 2005 ESPN Baseball Encyclopedia, I think the 2006 version comes out soon), It's  a guy from one of the NL teams in RBI.  He has 13 career homers.

Metal King

Another hint......His first name goes with King, and his last name goes with Jackie.

JoeDirt

That hint is too easy, but I think we've had that question before...Don Robinson.  I wanna say he had 11 total?
