The Yanks jump out to a 3-0 lead after 1 thanks to back-to-back HRs by Gehrig and Ruth, the Braves managed only 1 hit in the bottom of the first.

Yogi Berra led of the top of the 2nd with a solo shot, followed by singles from Nettles and Ford, Lazzeri then hit a double and Dale Murphy's throw got past the catcher Nettles and Lazzeri scored.  Gehrig and Ruth hit doubles to score a 5th run and the Braves offense failed to produce again as the Braves are now in big trouble down 8-0.

The Yanks got 2 in the 3rd from a 2 out 2 run shot by Lazzeri and the Braves went down 1-2-3 in the 3rd.  Game Over  10-0 Yanks who take a 1-0 lead in this best of 5 series.

The Yanks got 1 in the top of the first, Lazzeri had a lead off double, Gehrig singled and Ruth got an RBI groundout.  The Braves answered with 1 thanks to singles from Garr, Aaron and Mathews.
1-1 after 1

Berra led off the 2nd with a solo HR, then Nettles singled, followed by RBI triples from Ford and Lazzeri, Gehrigs single drove in Lazzeri, giving the Yanks a 4 run 2nd.  The Braves got nothing in the 2nd.
5-1 Yanks after 2

Spahn finally threw his first scoreless inning of the series and Dale Murphy hit a 2 run shot to cut the lead to 2.
5-3 Yanks after 3

The Yanks added 1 with a 2 out solo shot by Gehrig, the Braves answered with a double from Johnson followed by singles from Adcock, Garr, Murphy, and Aaron to get 3, but it could have been more if Garr wasn't thrown out at the plate and Torre didn't strand Aaron and Mathews at 2nd and 3rd.
6-6 after 4

Maris popped out to end the 5th with runners on 2nd and 3rd so the Yanks failed to score, the Braves got 1 on a solo shot from Bob Horner
7-6 Braves after 5

After Neikro retired the first 2 in the 6th, Gehrig and Ruth singled, followed by a Mantle 3 run HR and a DiMaggio solo shot.  Then Berra double and Nettles single, then Guidry hit a 2 RBI triple and Lazzeri hit a 2 run HR.  Then Rizzuto tripled, Gehrig singled to drive him in and Ruth hit a 2 run HR before Mantle finally lined out, the Yanks scored 11 all after 2 were out.  In the bottom of the 6th Murphy and Aaron single, but they were still at first and second with 2 out and the game on the line, but Horner and Johnson both double to extend the game.
17-10 Yanks after 6

DiMaggio hit a solo shot in the 7th as the Yanks tacked on a run and the Braves couldn't capitalize on Ramirez's lead off double
18-10 Yanks after 7

The Yanks got 2 in the 8th as Lazzeri, Rizzuto, and Mantle all doubled to again pull ahead by 10 with a chance to end the game.  And end it they did as Torre grounded in to a DP to end an 0-5 game, debate his coaching you may but he certainly has been an unclutch batter in this series.

FINAL Yanks 20 Braves 10 8 innings

The overhyped WS ended toay as the Yanks won game 3 12-2 in 6 innings.  Whitey Ford again shut down the Brave offense who scored both their runs on ground outs.  The Braves who average almost 6 HRs a game during the regular season managed just 2 total for the series.  The long bye must have really hurt the Braves

The Yanks have become the 2nd straight watch season champ to finsh 3rd during the regular season, so the wild cards continue to prevail.

Full Series Box score plus WS MVP awards to come later

He really sucked ass, poping up with 2 on and 2 out a few times, Mr. Unclutch after he had a solid regular season.  It seemed like someone turned up the Braves ground ball attribute for the series.

Or maybe the Braves simply realized that they are the Braves and that was the playoffs. You shouldn't have had Bobby Cox be the manager.
