Is now the oldest player in the history of baseball to hit a home run.

Opposite field in Petco, no less.

malnuboy

how many pitches was Peavy up to? Why did they pull him
What do you got there, the 4 volt? I did you a favor.

Attezz

Peavy was under 100, but was pinch hit for with the bases loaded and no outs in the 8th, Pads come up empty, but no big deal because Linebrink and Hoffman only need to get 6 outs.

Nope, maybe they should have just let Peavy taken a strike out, and not pinch hit for Dave Roberts?

OctoFranco

YES!

God bless you Julio.

I waited the final two months of last season to see this, but it never happened.

Glad to know that man finally squeezed it in.  God fucking bless him.  And he does love god, and Jesus too.

Also, opposite field should be a given.

That should make him 2/7 now.  He has only appeared this season as a PH.  Think his 2006 baseball cards will reflect this?

How can you not like Julio? And I don't think anyone really believes he's actually 48. I'm sure he's really in his 50's.
The guy who caught the ball traded it for a bat. I wish he would have asked Julio to sign a copy of RBI Baseball.

Give Julio a break.  Unbeknownst to us, but knownst to him and the RBI programmers, he was still a good 15 - 20 years away from his "prime."  He was just a pup in RBI.

Attezz

He got a decent ovation when he came to bat in the 8th, which I found surprising considerng it was a one run game with a guy on second and only one out.

Is Julio Franco a HOFer?

TempoGL

AS much as I like Julio, there's no way in hell he's a Hall of Famer.

Am I missing something here?

I was literally only there for about 4 hours.  I presented a paper at a Political Science conference, had a beer at the hotel bar (where the conference was held) and left.  I suppose I coulda stayed and called you guys, but I pulled a Sally and came back right away.
