Mr. Blubbo

When is it and I want in!
Here's your ball!

#1
If we do another season, I'm cool with running it. But I think I'd like to set up a system where teams simulate and keep records for their own games instead of one person doing it all (me). If nothing else, perhaps we can get one or two other people willing to each take at least one game a week.

I'd be willing to not have a team so another person can play.

EDIT: TEAMS SO FAR

In:

The OC (TBG & BDawk)
The Poopydickbutts (fknmclane & Gantry)
The Nimrods (U7)
The Frank Tanana All-Stars (Shooty Babbit)
The South Arkansas Penis (Ryno/Bonny)
The Hip Young Popes (Gerlost/Disco Smiley)
Team AttaRack
The Nacho Project
G-D AVIS
GoReds & TBT

Out:

The Creamy Pirates (fightonusc)
The Unholy Legions of Doom (Beefmaster)
The Fighting Tony Danzas (defen)

Waiting to Hear Back:

THE Parish State University (Baines)

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

BDawk

I might be handling all personnell decisions for the World Champs

TβG

i call not it. the champions should not have to do anything except for rest on our laurels.

in all seriousnessl, i really appreciate highly all the work fighton's done the past two seasons.  unfortunately starting in january i can't commit to anything because i'm not sure where i'll be working because of my move and everything.  when does the fantasy league usually start?

Nacho

I'd like a piece.  I've never played fantasy RBI.

GoReds - a man among men...

Mr. Blubbo

do you actually have to play the games online or do you just draft a team?  How does it work exactly?

The computer plays the games - fighton (or whoever is handling that particular game) starts the game in Watch Mode and keeps track of the results.

All the league members do is draft a team and form a lineup.  The teams are 3 OF, 4 IF, 1 C, 2 SP, 2 RP, and 4 bench guys that can be any position.  You have to start your positional players, although your lineup can be whatever you want.  Trades are allowed (albeit rare), and lineup changes are allowed between weeks.  If the league has fewer than 10 teams, free agent pickups are also allowed during the lineup change period.

I'd be willing to step aside for the next season if you guys would like a spot... I've done this a few times already.  I could probably help out some with simulating games, though.

i'd be concerned about the stat keeping as many people don't know how to score games properly, i'd imagine.

Mr. Blubbo

I would manage a team but unfortunately I have to be a pussy in helping out.  I don't even have an NES.

emulation is the key...

All the games are played on my computer emulator. I use VirtuaNES, because the individual game files can be saved and posted. Then, anyone with that week's ROM and JNes can simply load the game file and watch the game from beginning to end.

I track the stats with a freeware program called Baseball ScoreBook that's really simply to use. Basically, after each play, you just mark down what happened (type of out, hit, how runners advanced, etc.) At the end of the game, you can call up a box score (what I always take screen captures of and post).

I'm happy to run it again, but just know that games will be played at leisurely pace this season. Anyone willing to help would seasons move quicker, etc.

Mr. Blubbo

interesting.  I could help out with maybe a game or two a week, assuming I can figure out how to DL that crap and actually use it.  I make no bones about admitting that I may be too stupid to figure that shit out, but I could give it a shot.

i'd be willing to pay for the league, but as i mentioned previously i can't commit to helping run anything becuase i don't know where i'll be.

I can run games, but my method is a bit different than USC's.  My scoring program yields no play by play, just a box score plus I try to write up some summary (I figure that anyone that wants a play by play can just watch the damn game since they are all recorded).

But this allows me to compile stats fast, the crappy "software" that I wrote, exports the stats right into my excel template, so I don't have to worry about any STAT issues, just "scoring" the game.

The Raiders are a successful organization

fightonusc

Awesome. The main thing the stats/box scores are good for are keeping season stats. I have no problem building all of that as long as the games each have stats.

OK, we obviously have 10 teams maximum. I know that some people previous had mentioned maybe doing a joint team like TBG and BDawk did with The OC (I believe Rack and Gantry had mentioned this, and maybe Mike D. and rdub). If people want to do this, that's cool - we can get more people involved that way.

Let me know who wants in. Returning players answer first with a yes or no. (I'm acting as commish only, and Beefmaster said he's willing to sit out this season if we need spots). Once the returning teams commit to playing or sitting out, we'll know how many spots are left, etc.

Where will Matt Nokes get drafted?  Stay tuned

We're a good team...as long as you stay the fuck away from my players. You're more the guy behind the guy behind the guy
