Brookensrules!

This just in:  Will Clark named as "special assistant" to the Giants. What the heck does that mean?  I want a job with that title.  I would also want to read the duties and responsibilties for such a position.

nomaaa

he was also just named one of the "only two names you need to know" in rbi

And he hit over 300 in the few seasons leading up to that as well.

Why did he retire so early?

I think he should have gotten more HoF consideration.

An .880 OPS is nothing to sneeze at and he's completely off the damned ballot.

japetus462

He was a great 1B in an era of other great 1B.... A lot of people argue for Don Mattingly being in the HOF. VERY similar numbers between the two....

good, but not great.  will didn't play long enough to get into the hall, he never really did anything production-wise to stand out.  never an mvp, never led the league in anything of consequence.  i guess he was somewhat stuck between eras where he didn't play enough of the 80's and didn't really stand out with the roiders of the 90's.  mo vaughn was more of an impact player than clark, and mo shouldn't be in the hall either.

Clark won a batting title, finished near the top in homers a couple of times, lead the league in runs, RBI, runs created (all in different seasons, of couse).

Who was a better 1B during his time?

He should have gotten more consideration for his middle name.

good, certainly memorable to their respective frachises.... but not HOF material.
