Just as a preference, or because you think it's more realistic/accurate...

Re-Peat

Hey turd, do you have a spreadsheet or text file of the contact/power/speed ratings of the players?

anyone ever notice that if you drop a deuce on someones windshield in sub-freezing temperatures, its pretty damn hard to get off once it freezes.

Turd

I can generate one...I just haven't released it yet because I wanted people to play the game without bias first, as opposed to "you gave such and such that much curve!" Or, "why is does this guy have a better curve than that guy?"

Eventually I'll release that, but I wanted some unbiased gameplay first...cool?

Ok, how about after the challenge is complete?

I was a little shocked at how good Boston was...  And I don't think it's the ROM's fault, their roster just looks stacked.  Beltre batting 8th?  Shit...

The reason I asked to start with was that David Freese (batting 7th for the Cards) is such a fucking bum in the game I was wondering if subbing in someone from the bench might not be the best strategy...

Freese has very little MLB work on which one might base his ratings, so I'm not going to say he's better than that because who knows?

And it's not like STL has a bunch of great  players off the bench either...  I'd definitely feel better if he was down at 8 and push Ryan (who I like as a player, and in the ROM) to 7, or even 6 (switching with Molina).

Also, Ludwick's power seems a little low to me.  I expect bad contact for him but if Ludwick connects that ball should be gone and so far he's shown nothing but warning track power.

Rasmus and Shumaker seem perfect to me.  Shu is a great lefty leadoff man who lives off the Pettis, has marginal power at best and not blinding speed.  Rasmus has moderate speed and power, sometimes sucking a big fat dick and sometimes carrying the team.  Both seem right on to me.  Molina is also a marginal hitter with weak power, another appropriate build.

This was supposed to be a quick post, but turned into a full on critique of the lineup...

I'm not as good with pitchers so it's hard for me to critique them.  Wainwright does seem a little slow to me though.

Yeah, I'll release the actual attributes soon.

Much appreciated feedback...I'll be sure to look it over.  Here are is Ludwick:

No Name   R/L    Avg  HR Cnt Power Speed
===============================
05 Ludwck RHB  .265  22  22    842      123

With 842 - 22, his worst power will be 822, and that should be enough to crank a few good homers...

Wainright's speed ratings:
Fastball: 85 - 91 MPH
Normal: 77 - 83 MPH
Slowball: 67 - 75 MPH

Re-Peat

I guess I should throw more fastballs...

Like Attezz I never change speed against the computer.  It doesn't catch the comp off guard the way it can fool a human.

Jair Jurrjens (ATL) was throwing crazy heat at me, and I wasn't sure if he was throwing "fastballs" or if it was his normal stuff.  I guess I felt a little hosed throwing 80mph with Wainwright while Jurrjens was tossing consistently at 90mph.

I think Ludwick deserves power closer to 860-880, but his contact should be closer to 30.

Looked into the Wainright vs. Jurrjens speed issue, they are rated almost the same, differing by 1 MPH, except for the sinker, which Jurrjens is 5 MPH faster at, but has 5 drop ability vs. Wainright's 7.  Wainright crushes Jair in curve ability though.

As for the Angels lineup...I'll note this for my next update.

Clambutt

The Reds are fkn terrible.  Volquez>Arroyo for one of the SP spots would have been nice too...

Turd

Votto, Phillips, and Bruce are all pretty good hitters, the rest of the lineup is kind of meh...they weren't that amazing last season...

As for Volquez, I told you I'd add him already, as I agree he's a better pitcher :)

Clambutt

just played 2nd game.  3 Phillips HR...  I guess I spoke too soon.

Hey man. AMAZING job resurrecting a legendary game. Couple suggestions for my A's

Pitching is perfect. Only thing that might change over the season is Joey Devine taking over the setup role from Wuertz.

Lineup prbly oughta be

1)Davis - LF
2)Crisp - CF
3)Suzuki - C
4)Cust - RF/DH
5)Kouz - 3B
6)Fox - 1B
7)Ellis - 2B
8)Pennington - SS

and if the DH ever comes into play, slap Sweeney(RF) back in there before/after Ellis.

Bench should be changed to

Sweeney
Barton
Powell
ERIC CHAVEZ BABY!

Cuz we all know those .185 0 hr guys are useleless(Miles), so may as well go with the fragile legend with pinch hit pop.
If Chavez been too much a non factor, Adam Rosales is better than Miles.

Soon Barton will be a career AAAthletic and Carter will hit the bench in the show. Otherwise you pretty much nailed how bad the A's are going to be this season!  :D

Anyway, I'm just being picky but they are suggestions nonetheless. Too much good shit you put together. This is going to keep me busy all baseball season and beyond. If you need any help with teams/scouting/benches/lineups lemme know. I'm such a baseball nut its ridiculous.

And if I didn't stress this enough...HOLY SHIT NICE JOB WITH THE ROM!  >:D

Turd

Thanks, brother. I'm glad you like it. I have been working on the 1987 ROM while I let some more trades and moves occur, but rest assured I'll be doing more updates and I'll take your suggestions into consideration.

If you ever want to play online, let me know. Enjoy the ROM in the meantime.

Turd

Just as an FYI, this project is on hold until the season nears.  I got sick of trying to keep up.  When that happens, I'll do another sweep of the rosters to make sure lineups are in their correct order and probably do a polish of the ratings based on some things I learned on the 1987 ROM.

Lineup Info:
latest news from angels spring training camp:

"In his early-day session with the media, Scioscia again identified Erick Aybar and Maicer Izturis as his leadoff men and said he was anticipating having Hideki Matsui in the fourth or fifth spots in the order, with Abreu batting second most of the time."

(matsui of course will be DH, so that will be awesome if/when we get that capability in the game)

Thanks for the info. I'm actually working on lineups as we speak...

Turd

Finalized batter power. All that's left is to tweak pitchers and adjust for trades and lineup changes...then this bitch is complete...

AlecTrevylan006

If only we could edit in stadiums somehow... course, it'd just be Tecmo, Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park or Wrigley Field so far but that'd be awesome
