Official RBI 30-Team 2011 ROM

I haven't done any online play because right now my primary computer is a Mac, and it looked like that was an obstacle.  The Juiced version gave a more interesting computer opponent.  Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to play online in time.

I do have access to an old PC, but it's getting old and slow, and the sound doesn't work.  So maybe I'll just try playing silently, or maybe I'll see about getting that fixed.

10 team's pitching staff completed...20 more to go. Tedious work to say the least.

Our pitching rating system kind of sucked after we reviewed our progress, so we revamped a bit and started over.  This sounds like it put us back, but we're actually further ahead than we were because not pitchers are being rated relative to their talent level as opposed to being rated on an island.  So, the result should be easier editing for us with a better at a glance view, and more parity among pitchers.

I think we'll set a goal to have this thing beta released early January.  If we get aggressive, maybe sooner, but the holidays kill that, usually.

First off, thanks to WMB. The guy is a rockstar.  After collaborating, I don't think I'd ever rate another ROM without a partner...it was so much more enjoyable this way.

Features:
Uniform hack -  All teams were given an away/colored uniform.  The home team will automatically have their jersey/pants color replaced with white while keeping the hat color the same.

Dirth paths - For a more modern feel, the dirt paths have been drawn onto the field.  I wanted this in the 2010 release, but I didn't make it in time.

The steal hack - this hasn't been changed, but it potentially could if we find a good number. We also might not change it in the spirit of keeping the original flavor.

This is an early beta, released to get feedback from people.  It's rated in the spirit of the original with an attempt at modernizing it a little.  We already know the rosters might not be 100% up-to-date.  If you notice an incorrect player on a team, please bring it to our attention.  If you have a suggestion or a gripe, let us know and we'll discuss it.  We put a lot of time into this, and we' like to make it better if at all possible.

One item for debate was whether or not to include Cliff Lee on the Rangers or Phillies.  One argument was to keep him on the Rangers because this ROM represents 2010, while the other argument favored accuracy.  We could see both points, but thought we'd leave it up to the community to see what they had to say, so we'd appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

There is no online editor, other than the collaborator...the downloadable editor is already available...

Just played a quick game, Cubs against LA.  Everything played just fine.  Was pretty shocked Tyler Colvin had 20 HRs, but baseball reference says you are right - 20 dingers and 100 Ks in 350 ABs, hmmm...

I'm with Gantry - if you switch Lee to the Phillies, then you will have a bunch of other roster moves to make as well, and there are also still a ton of free agents who haven't signed yet.  I say use it as a 2010 ROM and move things around slightly for a 2011 ROM in February - you can use all the same ratings, just switch around rosters and add a few new players.

Great feedback guys.  I was ready to argue hard against keeping Clifford on the Rangers, but I started to come around, and you guys solidified that even more.

The only thing I'm concerned with still is the pitching.  I'm sure some more tweaks will come, but overall, I'm happy with our efforts.  I love the uniform hack as well.

We played a game last night HOU vs. MIL and I won with a Casey McGehee homer in the 10th inning to make it 1-0.  Glad to be done editing the meat of this thing and actually playing it.

(I even got a game of Tecmo in last night for the first time in a long time). Good stuff...

What's the deal with the pitchers' ERAs?  Tigers are all 3.37 (JV's ERA last year).  BTW, love what you're doing with this game, great stuff.

did the online collaborator spit out a rom?  i can't remember.  could you put the speed hack in there so we could download a rom with all these new options that are available?  field, uniforms, etc?  just wondering if that's possible.
