Not at all.

Brett's 124 speed was infuriating me. Garner's speed (134) will result in better production over the long hall. Brett looks great on paper with a contact of 12 and a power rating of 834, but he just doesn't hit consistently enough. Garner outperforms Brett statistically from the last three seasons of Fantasy RBI, and he statistically outperformed Brett in the sim games I ran against multiple teams. Brett will help McLane when he comes off the bench with a +64 power boost and that is fine with me. Like I said, Garner fits perfectly into our system and the chemistry in the new lineup will be much better, even artistic!

Garner is going to toast McLane in this week's game!

I'd like to change our uniform colors to Green and Black.  Too much pink in the league.

Excellent move here! Your team and Nacho's had the exact same uniforms. Counting the Shooties uniforms looking more pink than red, there certainly was too much pink.

I have a hunch that Canseco furiously demanded to change the team color away from pink since pink and a juiced, hulk looking Canseco made him depressed. I don't think green will lift the Canseco leadoff jinx! Did you hear on Fighton's podcast how Fighton abrasively criticized Canseco leading off as a failure? That's a big storyline this week: Canseco and the jinx leadoff spot!  I heard he didn't even show up to batting practice today as a protest and had another speeding ticket. Then he mysteriously shot himself in the hand and it looks like he just doesn't want to play for you!

Here is some trade history in Fantasy RBI baseball. This is from season IV when The Empire took over Ryno's paper airplane and made it into a space shuttle and reached the FRBI WS. With me and McLane's trade today, this is the second time we have done business together! Interestingly enough, I swept McLane's team that season in the LCS playoffs!

BREAKING NEWS:

HOLLYWOOD, CA - The Fantasy RBI Baseball Commissioner's Office today announced two trades, effective for Week 9 and both involving The Empire. In the blockbuster deal, The Empire has sent Reggie Jackson and Denny Walling to The Poopydicks for Brian Downing and Chris Speier. Shockingly, it is the second time this season that Reggie Jackson has been trading, having come to The Empire from The OC earlier in the season.

Additionally, The Empire has sent Jim Lindeman to The Frank Tanana All-Stars in exchange for Kirby Puckett.

Garner hitting fifth?  Interesting.

Garner's role in the cleanup won't function as a traditional cleanup hitter. His role there is a table setter, a manufacturing catalyst for that end of the lineup. And in the situation that Leonrd, Mtgnly, Baylor, or E.Davis is on base, combined with the way Garner hits the ball, he'll pick up rbi's since all those players except Mtngly have good to great speed and will take an extra bases, especially if there are 2 outs. And Garner will get some HR's here and there, so that'll be a bonus.

Additionally, Garner in the 5-hole with Whtkr following in the 6th hole works well together because of Garner's good 134 speed and the way Whtkr hits the ball. Whtkr in the 5-hole doesn't work with Garner following him because of Whtkr's average speed and the way Garner hits the ball. Whtkr won't get that extra base and he'll get hosed at 3rd base and generate my stat X's (forms of putouts and tagouts due to average to poor speed).

With Burlsn following Whtkr in the 7-hole and if Whtkr is on base, Burlsn will be able to drive in Whtkr because of the way Burlsn hits bleeders which allows more time for Whtkr to take extra bases. And the same follows with Pena in the 8-hole - Pena hits a lot of gappers and Burlsn will score from first on those gappers in most situations. Pena is my cleanup guy for the bottom of the order, not a guy in survival mode trying to keep the inning going.

So there is a peak into The Empire's system. I like this type of style better than hoping for homeruns and hits. There's nothing to prove either since The Empire has been very successful the past three seasons. I'm not saying my system is better, but that this is the only way I can have fun and get creative! Take GDavis' system for instance, He puts a premium on power and ignores everything else. It worked for him in season IV when he won it all. So that is just another style and way to win. Look at his lineup, players with the highest power rating are placed in descending order in his lineup - something Canseco is very angry about!

Hey Shooty, what was interesting was your last place finish the last time you participated in the league!  :D

Darky is making panic moves.

The whole team must be on edge, not knowing what the madman will do next.  Will they even have jobs next game?

Darky, the more you tighten your grip, the more star holes will slip through your fingers.

Nacho

Darky basically traded DCincs for Garner. Doesn't seem wise, imo...

Briefer this time around, but just as awesome! At the end of the segment, Fighton mentioned that the Fantasy Friday Night game of the week between the Empire and AOS may be a preview of the Fantasy RBI Finals! Look at Fighton showing off his marketing and journalism skills!

Canseco and the leadoff disaster should have been mentioned to blow up that storyline even more!

I know, it's crazy! It was the only path to Garner  ;D  No regrets! You'll understand once DCincs doesn't show up because he'll do that when you need him the most! Garner won't have the HR's and RBI's like DCincs, but he'll make up for that on the basepaths when taking extra bases and avoiding putouts and tagouts. DCincs speed is a liability and he'll make a lot of outs on the bases and won't take extra bases. You just made the list with Garner and we'll see you in a couple weeks buddy.

We like to keep a competitive atmosphere in the clubhouse and by keeping our players on edge every single game, we'll weed out the mentally weaker ones who don't have the Force strong in them. We value resiliency over power ratings! True though, if we don't keep these players on edge, then we cease to be the Empire. We learned a thing or two from the Roman Empire and how the soldiers were treated during that reign.

He gives up too many homeruns and wasn't a good match for most of the league.

Also, it is funny how Brett started for Nacho, started for me one game, and now is on the bench for McLane. Nacho got a great bargain with the trade, and I'm happy that I got Leonrd. I took a chance on Brett to see if he could play up to his ratings and outperform his Fantasy historical stats, but he just can't (I ran tons of sim games btw). I'll take Leonrd over Burks any day, but losing DCincs was a burn until I got Garner. So Nacho's team got better and I feel like my team is better now and plays to my style. I need to have a certain style and product on the field, so that's that.

I think my team is set now and we have an Empire type product now, so maybe no movement for the rest of the year ... or not!

Anyways, I was going to do a preview for this week's games, then Fighton ran a game and beat me to the punch. I was going to mention that the EZ Listeners had about a 70 percent chance to win over the RC Diplomats.

I'll preview the other games in my next post because I love doing this shit!

If you'd take Leonard over Burks any day, why did you draft Burks while Leonard was available?

I know. I took a different approach in the draft. Burks was my third pick, after me already taking 2 outfielders - Baylor and E.Davis. I realized I overplayed my OF hand after I took him, but that speed and power combo intoxicated me. Burks higher contact rating really does drag him down a bit. Of course he's great, but I should have never taken 3 OF's in a row in the draft. Yeah though, I was trying something different in the draft and I was a bit rusty when the draft came around because I rarely get players with higher contact ratings (over 25) in any round. DCincs was also out of character for my draft. Basically, and I have mentioned this before, I had a really bad draft with too many mismatches for my philosophical approach.

Shooty had one of the better drafts I've ever seen. He had some help and players fell into his lap ... then his base was set and went ahead and grabbed Gooden right before I was about to get Gooden. Ughh, such a bad draft I had.
