Chc 12 Hou 3   
Sutcliffe pitched a CG and Wilson had 3 HRs

Atl 18 SL 12    
The Braves prevail despite giving up 6 in the first and became the first team to hit 10 HRs in a game, outhomering SL 10-0.  Davey Johnson became the 2nd player to hit 5 HRs in a game (Aaron was the other, they are also the only 2 to have more than 3 in any game)   
HRs:   Murphy, Mathews, Johnson(5), Aaron, Horner, Torre

Bos 11 SF 1 (3 inn)   

HRs:   Mays, T. Williams

Cin 13 NYY 7   
A big win for the Reds as they had a great pitching performance by the whole staff and a big Ruth HR that would have cut it to 9-6 in the 5th was called foul.

The A's prevailed in this pitcher's duel despite some terrible defense

The Astros scored 4 in each of the first 3 innings and rode it to victory

Chc 11 Atl 10   
In an exciting well pitched game, the Cubs took a 9-8 lead to the 9th thanks to PH singles from Trillo and Kingman.  Eddie Mathews led off the 9th with a solo shot to tie it and Adcock hit a 2 out solo shot to give the Braves a 10-9 lead.  But Ernie Banks hit a 1 out walk off 2 run shot in the bottom of the 9th to win it for the Cubs.   
HRs:   Mathews(2), Williams, Wilson, Banks(2), Murphy, Torre, Adcock

NY 17 SL 7 (7 inn)   
The Cards led 7-5 in the middle of the 5th when John Tudor entered the game and suffice to say he doesn't match up so well with the Yanks allowing 13 runs and 10 HRs in 2 1/3 innings   
HRs:   Brock, J. Clark, Musial, Ruth, Mantle(3), Berra(2), Nettles, DiMaggio(2), Gehrig

Cin 13 Bos 2 (4 inn)    
Boston had a chance to move within 1 game of a playoff spot instead, the Reds opened up a 2 game lead on the 3rd spot pounding Tiant.

Cin 20 Oak 13   
2 well balanced offenses that homer in bunches, but the top of the Reds line up just did a bit better in this game and took a 10-7 lead in the 4th which they never relinquished.   
HRs:   Jackson, McGwire(2), Foster(2), Canseco, Morgan, Cochran

SF 17 Hou 10     
The Giants led throughout   
HRs:   Terry, Ashby, Ott(2), Mays, McCovey, Bass

Atl 15 LA 9   
The Braves got 5 in the top of the 1st and never looked back, handing the Dodgers their 6th loss in a row   
HRs:   Horner, Robinson, W. Davis, Aaron, Johnson, Campanella

Chc 16 SL 10   
The Cubs fight off the pesky Cards thanks to good relief from Jenkins and Sutter   
HRs:   Banks(3), Hornsby, J. Clark(2), Dawson

NYY 14 Bos 13   
A back and forth HR fest, but Gossage was able to pitch a scoreless top of the 9th for the save.

The A's had 5 run leads multiple times in this game, everytime the RedSox fought back including getting the tying run to the plate in the 9th but Lefty Grove forced Fisk to ground into a game ending DP.

Hou 13 Cin 9    
Houston was carried by Glen Davis 2 doubles and 2 HRs which included a 4th inning Grand Slam, the Reds had a chance to really put a stranglehold on the 3rd spot but will now fall back to the pack

Atl 20 SF 7 (8 inn)     

HRs:   Mathews(2), Ott, Murphy, Aaron, Torre, Johnson

LA 19 SL 15    
The Dodgers led from start to finish, and held off a late Cardinal run.   
HRs:   Snider, Campanella, Guerrero(3), J. Clark, Flood, Robinson

Chc 17 NYY 15   
An important game with the winner moving within a game of a playoff spot.  The Cubs fell behind early 8-0, but got 5 in the 6th and 8 in the 7th to take a 13-9 lead.  The Yankees tied it at 13 heading to the 9th but Ernie Banks and Hack Wilson each hit 2 out 2 run HRs off Goose Gossage and the Cubs held on for the win.   
HRs:   Dimaggio, Nettles, Banks(2), Dawson, Ruth, Williams, Gehrig, Maris, Wilson

NYY 18 Oak 17   
The Yanks battled back from and early 14-4 deficit tying it in the 8th.  Sal Bando hit a solo shot in the top of the 9th to give the A's a 17-16 lead, but Mattingly answered and then Rizzuto drove in Gossage on a SF to win the game.   
HRs:   Jackson, McGwire, Gehrig, Ruth(2), Mantle(3), Tennace, DiMaggio(2), Bando, Mattingly

Hou 10 Bo 5   
A pitchers duel that the Sox led 4-2 after 6.  But the Stors got 5 in the 7th and Joe Niekro was unhittable in 2 innings of relief.  The RedSox managed just 7 hits in the game.   
HRs:   G. Davis, Yaz, Foxx, Doran, Fisk

Cin 22 Atl 14   
The Reds scored in every inning matching the Braves for the first 3 and then pulling away

Not as close as the score would indicate

LA 17 Chc 16   
The Cubs had chances in the 9th but could get a run across, 3 of the Cubs last 4 losses have been by the score 17-16.

The Braves got 9 in the 4th (7 after 2 were out) off a tiring Tiant to put the game away.

The Cards got 5 in the bottom of the 7th to take a 9-8 lead, but the Reds got the 5 right back in the top of the 8th.

Hack Wilson took over the HR lead in the first of 2 games which determine who stays within 2 games of Cincy.

Pee Wee Reese hit a 2 out 3 run shot in the bottom of the 9th to tie, but the Yanks hit 2 more HRs in the top of the 10th for the win.  New records set for HRs in a game the Yanks had 11, and 19 combined.

---Week 29 With the Battle for 1st   
Oak 19 Atl 16   
A back and forth game, Oak took a 6-1 lead in the first, but the Braves pulled ahead 14-10 in the 6th, the A's got 1 in the bottom of the 8th to cut it to 16-15.  Then Grove pitched a scoreless 9th, but Grove and Henderson grounded out to start the 9th.  Campeneris hit a 2 out 3B, followed by a Potatoes 2B to tie it.  McGwire singled and then Canseco hit a walk off 3 run HR, his 3rd of the game.   
HRs:   Torre, Da. Murphy, Canseco(3), Johnson, McGwire, Horner

NYY 11 Hou 3   
The Yanks had a 9-0 lead after 2 and then their offense took a break until they added 2 more in the 9th, but Houston couldn't capitalize as Whitey Ford shut them down.

Bo 18 SL 14   
The RedSox scored only in the 2nd, 5th, and 7th but scored in bunches to win.   
HRs:   Foxx(2), Yaz, Boggs, Doerr, Hornsby

Chc 17 Cin 7 (7 inn)   
In a game the Cubs had to have, their offense was on scoring in every inning and moving to within a game of a playoff spot.

SF 15 LA 3 (8 inn)    
A game which the winner is still alive and the loser is probably dead, and Juan Marichal deciced to take it over allowing just 6 hits over 8 innings while getting 3 hits himself the Giants defeated their rival.

It seems as though the overacheiving Reds are faltering down the stretch, looks like it could come down to the Yanks/Cubs game the 2nd to last week of the season.
