....but the tigers know we can compete now.

no, but i didn't have an answer for darrel evans or madlock. hell, or anyone else. i did get the professional hitter, mike heath, out. that was a confidence booster.

some games the cards just suck. i can usually tell early whether they'll have a chance depending upon how (or if) vince and the wizard are hitting. they set the table.

my cardinals lineup:

coleman
smith
morris
clark
mcgee
pendleton
ford
pena

i should play lindeman more, but i usually use him as a pinch hitter if there are ducks on the pond. oquendo usually get's an at-bat, as well. i seldome use "riki" lake. anyone know anything about him?

No homers ever hit by a pitcher up here at Uconn.  If someone was to ever do it, i think it would probably be either Frankie V or the Crackhead Doctor.

i guess when ozzie does hit it he makes it count.   what does 4 for 458 amount to... that average has to be miniscule.

that tigers cards game looks to be a little onesided yet todd is adament in his loyalty to the impotent redbirds.

you have to repsect his dedication.

thanks, gwynn.

the road i have chosen is not an easy one by any means, nor does it afford me much gratification - but when the redbirds are on, they can turn any game inside out. i suppose i have a soft spot for tony pena, too.

and i don't know if you are aware, but bban buys me a cd for every homerun ozzie hits, and there is nothing quite like watching a grown man slump to the counter of the nearest record store with a david bowie cd that t doesn't yet have, knowing the wizard had just taken him deep moments ago. words simply fail it.

First off, thanks for the kind words t...  I felt the same way when I found rbibaseball.com in college.  It was great, but was never updated.  So I needed to learn html awhile back, and I figured an updated RBI site would be the perfect way to go.  And it just kept growing....

As for the Cards, they just can't hang in straight pitch.  Though with curves and Tudor being a good pitcher, it seems like you can put up a good fight.  With our style though, it's just plain impossible to win with St Louis over the big 3 (Boston, Cali, Detroit).  They would probably lose 90-95% of the games.  But keep on fighting!

fight i will! besides, everyone on the cards with the exception of jack clark is due for a big game at some point in the near future.

jack clark has been glossed   obiwon kanobe because he is their only hope to hit a home run...  he usually doesnt though.

for you star wars buffs out there, i apologize if i butchered the spelling

as my fiercest (and quite frankly only) competior, i have nothing but respect for mr. richardson and his game play...he has remained somewhat true to his lifetime contract with the cardinals and we have great games....in curve pitching, having the big bats doesnt guarntee you a win....proof of that is t's many victories against me and my series win with the lowly houston astros....however, i feel as though t needs a change...i say this t as a freind and a coutnerpart...you need to move your team to minnesota or san fran....enough with this redbird garbage...as we stated the other day....your team has tony pena disease...no heart whatsoever....oquendo is just playing out his contract....mcgee is buttugly....pendelton and morris are asking the front office to be traded....vince coleman and ozzie smith combined may be able to hit it out of the infield and curt ford is wishing he was curt flood....t, its just time to move........just admit it
A couple of jesters? In the court of the king! IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE TELLING ME?!?!?!?

hey todd, sounds like your opponent thinks that you need to upgrade your team in order to compete.   all i know is that it takes gumption to keep picking those weak redbirds... but if you want to give yourself a chance... take the sox and represent your chowd heritage.

I commend anyone that sticks with a national league team, and tries to steal a victory from those fat, DH-loving American leaguers.  There is no strategy.  No, let's not hit-and-run, let's just sit back and swing from our damn heels and try to hit a 3 run jimmy jack!  American league pisses me off, yet my favorite team in real life is the Tigers and has been for 15 years.  Go figure.  I like playing with the Cards also.  I love the speed, and it takes some real skill to get Vince and Ozzie on so they can run.  Some timely substituions, and you can win a ballgame or two with them.  BTW, Stuart hangs his hat in Arkansas, not UConn.  And he has only visited 9 states in his entire life.

I never have myself, although I just gave up a rocket  grand slam shot to Clemens. In 1P mode, though. I don't have many friends.  :)

craig... you saying that you just gave up a grand slam to the computer... to a pitcher no less...  you need to practice...  i didnt know pitchers could hit shots... as far as the legend goes,  the only homeruns they are capable of are the ones that go through the wall at the foul pole.  give us more information.

i am sorry that you dont have much of a social life...

Yeah. I kinda do suck at the game. But for some reason, I like playing it anyway.

Anyway, I think the pitch was an inside fastball (I wasn't really paying attention, I was telling my sister to go away), next thing I know, I see the pitch taken deep to right for a grand slam. I guess the moral of the game is to PAY ATTENTION.  :)

i was having a hard time believing you that roger clemens hit a homerun off of you but now i am sure you are fibbing cause there is no way in hell that a pitcher is going to go oppo....  i find that really hard to believe.

They might have had a pinch-hitter. I wasn't paying attention because like I said, I was arguing with my sister(which takes up about 90% of my waking hours anyway. :) ).

You scared me.  I thought the Rocket swung inside-out and took you deep, for a grand slam.  I was going to permanently decertify you from playing the game ever again.  Nobody is that bad.

he cant be that bad and the rocket sure as hell isnt that good.  the guy cant swing worth shit.   the only thing that red ass can do with the bat is throw it at unsuspecting hitters.  oh that's right, he thought it was the ball... then why didnt he chuck the bat at tino over at first... roger, you are an ahole and you know damn well what you are doing.  i hope you dont reach 300 wins.

I hate real world Clemens so much, but I have to disagree aboot his hitting abilities on RBI.  I have always had him in the top three among the best hitting pitchers, along with Nolan and Doyle.  Seems to get a hit per game.  One game he had two gappers that went for two bags each.
